I know, but it's a money vs time thing - I might get away with finding the time to build a kit, but I lack the fabbing skills to do it from scratch and I really don't have the time for doing that either.
I have all the books and worked on plans to do one, cant do it right now in my life.
I end up looking at finish weight and cost and effort and start thinking a stripper miata can do much of what the 7 can with added track safety.
If I build one it would likely come out looking more like the Mallock at the top of this post.

I have a similar problem, but mine is from trust of my welding skills. I contacted a local race car builder. Said he would do me a chassis for $1K.
Not bad for a fully jigged chassis.
