I work about 2 miles from the touchdown point of ILG 19, just off the runway axis. One of those comes in and out of the airport a few times a month. Dear Bob, that thing is loud. Imagine a leaf blower the size of a C-130. Which, incidentally, are also stationed at the ANG wing that shares the airport.

Not even a little bit. We added the C-17 Globmaster to the base (I actually did design work on the building that houses the C-17 flight simulator... a cool rig if ever there was one). But the C-5s are still alive and well and looming over Dover on a daily basis.
DAFB is the major logistical point between the East Coast and Rammstein.
