Long Peninsula sounds like a character from a really, really bad exploitation B-movie.
On an island, On a mountain/hill. IN a valley, In a city, in a state. A city or state is an area. You're not ON an area. You're in an area.
Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world by area, and then within Lake Superior, the largest island is Isle Royale, which is a national park in Michigan. The largest lake within Isle Royale is called Siskiwit, and the largest island in Lake Siskiwit is called Ryan Island. And that makes Ryan Island the largest island in the largest lake in the largest island in the largest lake in the world.
EDIT: Not sure how this changes if you look at Michigan-Huron as a single lake, I'd assume that Manitoulin has some lakes with islands on it but don't know. Superior is still larger than Michigan-Huron by volume.

The transport from the movie Aliens.
Yep.
Pic reminds me of one of the funniest exchanges in an action movie.
Hudson: "Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"
Vasquez: "No. Have you?"
More trivia:
Hudson in another James Cameron flick
Vasquez in another James Cameron flick:
"Riply, ease off, you've blown the transaxle"
I always thought that was curiously accurate line. I am sure a vehicle like that would have a transaxle, I just never would suspect someone in Hollywood would care enough to get that detail right.

The vehicle its based on is likely an airport tug, and now I'm trying to remember if the ones at MacDill AFB were a hydraulic motor or an actual transmission.
