From an aircraft forum- Some 470 weights: Crank = 66lbs Block & cam = 105lbs Iron head = 65lbs (Aluminum head = 39lbs) Flywheel = 24lbs Pistons = 15lbs Geared starter = 7lbs ARP head stud kit = 5lbs Roller rocker arms = 4lbs

The crankshaft is way over designed, it looks like a V8 crank. The flywheel is from a Ford 289. The carb is a 2-barrel Rochester 4MC on the 170hp; Quadajet 4-barrel on the 190hp

That totals out to 265#, a lot less than I would have guessed.

From what I've read, it's an aluminum block with steel liners.

I would like to see some actual conversions....'cuz there is a '86 TurboCoupe for sale locally....

Hey, now! Peter Dumbreck managed to stick a four-point landing, albeit a bit off track: And survived essentially unscathed; he's still racing in the FIA GT1 World Championship.

If memory serves he did it twice in the same year.

Close, but it was Dumbreck's team mate, Mark Webber who performed the double flip. His first was never photographed, but the car somersaulted and landed right-side up. Webber just opened the door and climbed out in normal fashion.

The second event was ever more dramatic and the result was much like Dumbreck's:

The original version of the Nissan/Lola car, driven by Tony Adamowicz and Don Devendorf in 84-85.

Electramotive got serious, hired Geoff Brabham, switched from Bridgestone to Goodyear, and became legend..

Kaz & Don & crew thought for half a second about selling them as customer cars. Jim Busby bought one, and put John Paul Jr. in it, IIRC JPJ had just gotten out of jail, and was trying to get back into his career.

I seem to recall the Busby car running at Road Atlanta in 1990 or so with Miller Beer sponsorship, but I can't find a pic.

Paul also served time in a Lola T600. He served time under other circumstances, too.

Yeah. Paul Sr. was on probation for 3 years in 79 for possessing 801 KILOS of Mary Jane.

He was jailed for 6 months in Switzerland for falsifying passport records.

Then he was extradited to the US to be charged with and plead guilty to attempted murder and possession with intent to distribute. Sentenced to 20 years, later increased to 25.

Next up, he gets out of jail. Runs away on some boat with a chick. Chick disappears, he is questioned in her disappearance, then HE disappears. Has anyone heard from him since?
