No hate from me, you can deny the entertainment value of oval racing unless it's a bullring like bristol, but no series does oval racing better. Nascar does a lot right regarding how it's run. Let's not forget that they also own IMSA and run Tudor now as well. So the series you may prefer, is likely organized and run by nascar. Back to your regularly scheduled thread.
How many of those guys DON'T have sponsors? I am seeing alot of blank space or sponsors that couldn't buy an engine much less afford a season
Love the Mark Martin throwback as well as the Mellow Yellow. I am surprised that is the Bud they went with instead of the Jr. Johnson/Bill Elliott paint scheme.
Harry Gants throw back needs something on the rear quarters. The one that is painted up like a supermodified with the engine stickers is cheesy.
Love the concept.
Will they call it Winston Cup again too? Put me down for a jaw breaking yawn on throwback E36 M3.
I'm going to go riding in the woods where everything looks like it did ten thousand years ago.

Big ears? Check.
Short hair? Check.
Serious throwback 'stache? Check.
Suntan? MIA.
Would you believe I was "this" close...
It would be cool if they could get Cale Yarborough to punch Donnie Allison in the mouth after the race.
Clint Bowyer's cars is actually hand painted.. sure, they put a wrap on the car with the outlines of everything, but then a guy came in and used a brush to put it all on the car..
The return of the Skoal bandit...sorta. I thought the funniest ones were throwbacks to 1997 like having a Mark Martinesque digital camo pattern. Or a throwback go daddy car. Yeah, you know like all the way back to the 2002 superbowl when nobody even knew what they did. Was there really a Mello Yello car or was that just in Days of Thunder?
In reply to Will:
Thanks. I didn't really care enough to google or even read the caption in the linked post that probably told me that. I think of Hot Wheels when I think of Kyle Petty. Didn't know it was a real sponsor.
Once I took some time to watch NASCAR I started enjoying it. Its a totally different kind of Motorsport than road racing but it takes just as much talent, when you figure out the nuances and stuff then it becomes exciting.
Plus when they run at road courses like Sonoma and Road America its usually a good show.

Well, to be historically accurate - was the punch AFTER the race???
I know it was on the backstretch and I thought the punch happened before the race was even over!!!
Looks like they been havin' fun w/ the throwback thing on NASCAR pre-race.
I really liked the Woods Brothers #21 takin' a lap, that takes me back to the day.
I have always thought that road racing caters to the competitors. If a few fans show up then fine but don't expect to be catered to. Circle track just the opposite. It's all about the fan experience. I suggested at a road race meeting once that they invert the start to make it more exciting. They about ran me out of the room.

yes to "before the race was over" … but if memory serves, it was down off the banking between T3 and T4 … maybe closer to T4

If I was doing well in a race and some dumbass took me out, I'd want to deck him too...
Back to OT, a proper "throwback" paint scheme for Darlington would have the right quarter panel smeared and smushed and ground down
