So, I have next week off from work and am looking for places to go with my girlfriend. We want to get away and go somewhere new, but we do not any particular care where we go. The problem with most travel sites is that you need to put where you're going and when in order look for tickets (which is what most normal travelers do i suppose), and then it tells you how much it will cost. There's a lot of shooting in the dark to find a truly worthwhile deal.
I would like to find a site that I could find the cheapest flights leaving ANY of the airports near me, going ANYWHERE. Basically I don't care if I go from Syracuse to Atlanta, or Elmira to New Orleans, or Ithaca to Champagne, Illinois for god's sake, I just want to know the cheapest ways to get from somewhere, to anywhere else on a given day.
Are there any travel sites that let you search this way? Would calling desks at the specific airports and simply saying "Where's the cheapest place I can fly to on Monday" be easier?
While it might not be the cheapest and easiest, it certainly would be cheap to look up flights to the large hubs of various airlines.
yeah i thought of this a few months ago wanted to do the same thing. From my research there were a couple of sites that did it but no longer support it. I am thinking it has something to do with homeland security but that is just a guess. I did find kayak does do this function go to this link and enter in your starting point.

This may be one of those rare occasions when actually calling an airline might be the way to go.

You might enjoy last minute cruise options.
How does one find a last minute cruise? Just call the cruise line?

When looking at a fly-n-drive to Tampa, Ithaca to Tampa was dirt cheap, but that was one way.

Before you get too far into this idea of a cruise...do you both have current passports?
Looks like cruises to Bermuda depart out of NYC, NJ or Baltimore. You could drive to the destinations and not have a flight expense ontop of cruise expense.
You do know this is an Easter week and therefore a pretty busy vacation week?
I'm not planning on it this weekend, but my girlfriend has also been itching for an adventure, and me being broke doesn't help. I just checked out a few sites for last minute cruises and I found a 7 night cruise to bermuda from Baltimore for $650. I couldn't stay in a hotel down the street for that price!
Is there any chance that cruise lines could drop you off on Saturday and then pick you up again two weeks later?

Welcome to Boise Idaho. Enjoy your stay.
This sounds like the first chapter of "Midnight in the garden of good and evil" the author realized he could get a flight from New York to Georgia for less than the cost of a decent meal in NYC and started making regular unplanned trips.
I like the idea too.
