Help me spend my money, which look do you like better?

The classic Keystones; 14", 5 wheels with good tires for $125

The Crown Vic Steelies; 16", 4 wheels for $100 need new tires (would end up painted white)

I've gotta go with Keystones. They were my favorites in high school and you never see them anymore.

When I first saw the Crown Vic steelies, I thought they were '68 Ford Styled Steels. I never liked them.

Steelies. Think of the Biscayne getaway car from "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" Keystones say,"I wish I was a coupe."

Is that the exact same car with the same suspension setup in both pictures (i.e. just the wheels changed)? I like the looks of the keystones alot better, but the steelies seem to fill up the wheelwell a lot better. In the top picture you can see the exhaust but you can't see it in the bottom pic, so I don't know if they're the same cars.

I vote for the Keystones, but if the front end were about an inch lower they'd look even better.

The steelies look a lot better on that car.

I think you will like the big footprint of the 16 inchers over the 14 inchers.
Use something like this in the link below to compare the tire sizes.

The Keystones are good buy if the tires really are usable?
At $100 for just the steel rims you will still drop $200-$300 more if you buy new tires

Keystones look more natural. I can't explain why, but they look good there.

The front looks a lot taller in picture with the Keystones. Did the suspension change? The front looks lower in the picture with Crown Vics which is why I like those more.

I honestly didn't expect this many replied about my old ford sedan, its a good thing Im not studying for my final tomorrow so I can read. lol

They are the same car, the keystone picture is from three years ago when I bought the car. It has a 289 and stock springs there. The lower picture has cut springs in the front and a heavier 351. I still need to adjust the altitude out back.

The steelies aren't going to fill up the wheel wells anymore because I want to run a 25" tall tire on either rim.

I am trying to find out if the keystones have the correct bolt pattern, I am expecting them to be the dreaded uni-lug. If the tires really are all good I am leaning in the direction. One fewer step (and expense) in getting the car on the road this summer.

Crown Vic wheels are, I believe, the wrong bolt pattern for a intermediate Ford, be it a Fairlane or a Mustang.

This Fairlane could use any wheel found on a 5 lug Mustang, Ranger/Bronco II, and any 5 lug equipped Fox-body car. Crown Vic wheels...I could be wrong, are the same bolt pattern as Ford's full-sized trucks.

And you would be, at least the last couple of gens of the 'Vic have been the standard 5x4.5" bolt pattern.

I have a couple more of the 16's you could have for free if you could figure out how to get them to you. Doubt it would be worth it though.

BUMP

I found a set of the crown vic steelies and with the help of craigslist and walmart's super cheap mounting and balancing I have a set of new tires on it too. Pair of sticky dunlops in the back, basic mastercrafts in the front for $130 on the rims. I ended up running 1" spacers in the front to clear all of the suspension parts but the look is just what I wanted.

A keen eye will notice the front end and other fender missing, I was busy installing speakers in the kick panels today too.

Those wheels look pretty good! I'd like to see taller rubber on them to fill up the wheelwells a little better, but you can't beat the price.

Another one for the steelies. Liked the keystones, but they left too much gap.

Hey Nitroracer!

Looks damn good! Nice to see you are still rolling on this project! My father picked up a 69 Torino (Fairlane in disguise) recently.
