What is the hives choice for easy to use cloud storage options? I mainly want to backup photos/videos on my phone, but also want to be able to upload action camera footage from a PC as well.
I thought about building a NAS, but I'd almost rather prefer the data redundancy that large companies have vs a small setup at home.

I've used idrive for years now. Price seemed reasonable at the time.
I use the integrated Google photos with my android, but I also use the Synology photos app that comes with my NAS. Yes, I know, you said you're not sold on that solution, but Synology makes such a good product that it's easy to recommend them.
I did a bunch of research, including roll your own stuff and in the end the best UX was Google photos and the cost is pretty low.
