Heart attack - 76 YO
RIP
One of my favorite comics of any era. He effortlessly bridged the gap between the borscht-belt joke slingers of the '70s and the brickwallers of the '80s and the ironic alt-comedy of the '90s and the absurdity of the post-millenium. Just a rock solid talent that couldn't help but to be funny. His constant appearances on Letterman in the '80s shaped a lot of my idea of what was actually funny.
Dude lived a pretty hard life for a lot of years, but cleaned things up before the drugs killed him, although I'm sure they helped shorten his run. In his appearances in the final season of Curbed he definitely seems a bit frail, but bravo to him for putting in the work and still killing with it every time he's on screen.
Sad news and, yeah, always enjoyed watching him. Like so many greats, he also sat on Dr. Katz’s couch.

"Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he's been like a brother to me," David said in a statement shared on the "Curb Your Enthusiasm" Instagram page. "He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I'll never forgive him."
