I'll go watch it opening weekend in theater just like the other 6.

I will see it as a final ode to Paul Walker's passion for cars, even if the franchise were the only movies most people could remember his performance in.

Rumor has that Brian OConnor walks off into the sunset about half way through the movie in order to protect and hide his new family. Should be interesting to see how that plays out.

I figure those movies would be more believable with Yosemite Sam and Bugs as the stars. I watched the first one, and just couldn't get past the "shifted 6 times while under the semi trailer" scene.

I had to cleanse my palete with Gumball Rally.

Really? I couldn't get past the scene where the guy set up his own autocross course with more (new!) cones than the six nearest SCCA regions have, combined.

My friend was mildly upset when I stopped the movie, took the DVD out of the drive, and flipped it out the window.

I'm not sure he's particularly repressed about the sort of guy he is. He is openly and unapolagetically an old school nerd. Talks about DnD in interviews and such. I like the guy. I think he's like a muscly version of Ken Block. You can give him crap for not really being serious or whatever, but deep down, he's one of us and does the kind of stupid-fun things we would love to do if given the opportunity. I mean, if you had the chance to star in a movie, would you want to be in high-brow drama that gets critical reviews, or would you rather jump across the hood of a car, firing two guns, while pyrotechnics go off in the background?

I love them, entertainment doesn't need to be high brow. Also, they have captured car movements pretty well although they influenced the import scene more than showing it properly.

All about the cars, and cool action.

I am really looking forward to seeing this and even better it is coming out late enough in April that it may end up at our drive in. If that is the case then I can take baby Jack to go see it in the Charger.

While they may not be high brow entertainment they are good fun and honestly the cars just keep getting better. In the first movie the only car that really did anything for me was the Charger, however as the movies go on they end up with more and more cars that I like. Heck I have even thought it would be cool to build a "flip car" from the 6th movie.

I'm pumped for this one, one of the small handful of upcoming movies I can say that about.
(Along with Mad Max, Interstellar... um... Avengers?)
That being said, ever since Tokyo Drift, every installment of this franchise is a 'see opening weekend' deal.

I like Vin in pretty much anything. Dude actually has acting chops, just gets type cast all the time. He's in it for fun, and is extremely intelligent.

I'll watch this when it comes out on Blu ray.

Complaining about these movies not being realistic is like complaining that porn isn't all lights-off missionary style while discussing the cable bill.

Just once it would be nice to see someone look at an explosion, though. How many explosions do you have to see before they get so boring you can just walk away?

F&F 3,5,&6 were pretty good, 1 is watchable, haven't seen 4, 2 is the worst.

This one look pretty good, I can accept that they're silly action movies. I'll watch it with no guilt.

I enjoy them, even when the action is so silly it makes me laugh aloud.

Along those lines however last night we watched Charlies Angels: Full Throttle and woo boy was it far fetched. I kept laughing at things and SWMBO started to give me a hard time about it.

The "Need For Speed" movie was something of an antidote to this - a bit surprising as it was based on a video game. They used minimal CGI for this movie - they have an interesting article on what they did here:

Interesting. The sad part is that I think I remember one of the trailers for the movie and it featured a rather obvious CGI shot of a silver mustang jumping 100's of feet straight at the camera (if that is the trailer I am thinking of).

Well, if I get a chance, I will certainly talk a look at it. Probably a stupid story, but nice cars and real stunts are a big plus.

I can agree with all of that. Yet.... I still watch them when they come out on TV. I must be some kind of masochist.

I was not sure if the the long jump scene was real or faked. The other chase scene work was all real, and it showed.

I don't watch movies to see real life. I see real life every day in real life. I go to the movies to see fake life. The FF franchise fills that requirement very well.
