I like my torques best when they're raw.

I second that. Drag racing is always fun. How in the world do you have a failure of that magnitude? I'm trying to think even if all the bolts broke, and all the welds broke, how they even got that car to the starting line. Why would the driveshaft not still be connected? Or at least parts of it anyway. The video is very realistic, but I'm supposed to believe the shocks, the driveshaft, the brake lines, and the ladder bars all separated from the rear end?

Remember tha HF Cheapo welder back in the shop? It wasn't enough.

from the looks of it.. the shocks and springs were either too soft (for launching) or he did not properly tub that car for those slicks.

Seems to me, the rear squatted and the tyres got just as much traction on the body of the car as they did on the ground, and just twisted the axle right off of the car

I love going to the drag strip as well.

'Round these here parts, fast trucks and disgusting F-bodies are the norm. Rounded out by stupidly fast Lexus's (Lexi?), turbo honduhs creating spectacular failures and/or hilarious quarter mile time/trap.

14.3 @ 129mph FTW!!!

I really just like the noises.

I really enjoy diesel drags. Nothing like seeing a street-driven crew cab dually trip the lights in the mid-10s.

Wow, and I thought my 14.0 @ 107mph was bad!

I suspect his welding skills are evenly matched with his reaction time.

Watching a big 'ol 4x4 diesel truck smoke a little Honda at the drag strip is way too much fun. And again, hating to sound like a broken record, just how do you get the tires to all come off at the same time? Even if I left the lug nuts off completely, one or two tires will come off first. I've been going to all kinds of races for decades, and I've never seen anything like the two videos posted. How in the world do these people accomplish this????

dunno, but i've heard that one way to steal wheels off of a car without a jack is to take all the lugs off and then start shaking the car side to side, then the wheels pop out and frame hits concrete. never tried it though.

i had my rsx at the track once or twice and was running low-15's. i ran off and left this duramax 2500 at the lights and was thinking, those diesels aren't so fast...until i got passed at the 1/8th mile like i was standing still.

Make sure your standing REAL close to the tire when doing this. I'd love to come out and find you with my truck sitting on the rims on top of your feet !

I'd play BOZO punching bag!

That car was actually featured in GRM shortly before that happened...anyways IIRC what happened was the guy asked for new lugnuts at a local RiceMart and they weren't an exact match, they went on and torqued up but the thread depth was different or something. That was the first hard corner he took after putting them on.

A 1/2-20 nut will thread onto a M12-1.25 bolt. If you convert 1/2-20 it comes out to M12.7-1.27, ie, slightly larger diameter, but a near identical thread pitch. That's how the nuts would screw on, and even take a proper torqueing, but still not have the strength to hold the wheels on.
