I just had a very easy sell. So easy that now I am kinda worried. I put my truck on Craigslist asking 4k. The guy calls, shows up and barely looks the truck over. Then he takes me on a 4 min drive and says that he is sold. He asks if I want the asking price even with a couple noticeable flaws. I come down $200 and the guy whips out $3800 in cash. He gives me the money, we sign the title and he drove off. The whole ordeal took less than 15 mins. Ive never sold anything this quick before.

Has this happened with any of you guys? Im kinda freaked that Im going to get robbed over night, the money is fake or that this is some kind of scam...

Dont sweat it too much, I'm sure I've left sellers feeling the same way. When I go to buy it's no games, I know what I want, and what to look for and I have cash in my pocket to back up any offer.

Sometimes you just get a good buyer, be happy, there aren't all that many left.

I sold an MG like that once. I had a couple people not show, and the first one that actually shows up has a trailer and cash. It was about 20 minutes between when he pulled up and when he drove away with the car. I wish they all went like that.

I bought one like that once. When I bought my MR2, it showed up on ebay while I had an email alert thingy looking for them. Called the guy up asked him a few questions, hit "buy it now." He had it sold within 15 minutes of listing it. I guess I technically didn't pay more than a deposit fo about two weeks because it was ~500 miles from home so I could have walked then and eaten the loss of the deposit if it had been grossly misrepresented.

I sold my 92 Explorer like that about 7 years ago. Put it on Craigslist, had a couple calls, one person called and just said they wanted it and came to pick it up and paid what I asked for it and left.

I asked the DMV to check when I last renewed my tags, and its still registered, so I guess its still in use. Good for them. Say what you want about first gen Explorers. Cherokee's they may not be but they are damn near indestructible, minus the trans.

I sold my na miata and the new owner never even took it for a test drive.

I was working at a parts store at the time and the miata was my daily driver. One day two guys come in one buys some stuff and the other asks who owns the miata, we exchange info and he wants to buy it - even though I have a nicer 96 ready to flip and sell to him. He looks it over, revs the engine, and hands me 2700. Roughly 700 more than I thought it was worth. Signed away the title and took my tag off, away it went.

I had a buyer actually give me more than I was asking because he felt bad for me. They showed with a trailer, and loaded it themselves. I was getting ready for work. By the time I finished showering, they were gone.

(Granted, my asking price was free, and the buying party sometimes goes by Hong Norr).

My CTS-V sale went exactly like that. Guy didn't pop the hood, test drive it...nothing. First time he sat in it was when he drove away.

Wish it was that easy selling my Fit right now...just had my 3rd buyer fall through...garrgghh

Been on both sides of deals like that. I always try to show up with extra money too. Once traveled with my brother to look at a $600 car and found a fellow who had a back injury and was looking to clean out his projects to fund and adjust to a simpler life. $6000 and 3 weekends later we had hauled 7 trailerloads of stuff out, hooked him up with a great deal on a riding mower, helped him sell his tractor, learned to love fried squash and did odd repair work that he was having trouble with now. We still have a lot of the stuff we got from him but it is slowly getting out to the right people.

I have also walked halfway around a car and apologized for wasting their time.

I have even had folks pressing asking price into my hand before they even hear it run!!
