Really, peak EGT is generally just lean of stoich no matter what you are burning and IIRC diesels will smoke long before they get to stoich. Normally they run way leaner than stoich because the fuel burns almost as soon as it's injected.
At some point, adding fuel just increases soot but not power. Probably we are seeing an effect of basic mechanical injection and tuning optimistically for the airflow from the turbos.
There is an event every Labor day weekend in northern Michigan and I keep failing to go. Its only a few hours away. Looks like a blast!
