It was cheaper for me to keep my 79 Dually on the yearly Ad Valorem tax ($1.42) than the one time tax ($130). My Bonneville is stuck on the yearly tax as I got it before 2012. On the Super Speeder, it has slowed people down some on the highway, so at least some good came out of it.
Right. Because we should all be going 55 berkeleying miles an hour on the connector/285.

Not talking about 55 mph, just that there are fewer people flying down the interstate at 85+ mph than there used to be. Plenty still running 70-80 mph around town.

You all need to watch this video. 285 ATL with 5 cars doing 55 in all the lanes restricting traffic. 80 is the norm in the fast lane.

I had a friend doing the speed limit though Houston on I10 about 10 years ago... A cop pulled him over to tell him to speed up... naturally his wife wanted a written warning so his buddy wouldn't ticket for speeding down the road lol

That's actually what I was kind of talking about in my previous post, though. Most folks (including the "appliance operators") knew that the seriously fast people were coming, and would actually move over to let them through. Now that they can't (big money/more enforcement), the flow has been disrupted.

Remember that we have hills. Most folks aren't enthusiasts, most folks have automatic transmissions. OTP, I cruise at 75, no problem. ITP, I back off to 70. You know what sucks about driving 70? I'm actually driving 70. I use my controls to maintain a steady speed. Uphill, downhill, around curves. Everyone else thinks they're driving 70, but what they're actually doing is driving 65 uphill (or around a curve) and 75 downhill. Without the freedom to tip the throttle a little as their speed changes on the downhill, I actually become part of the clog in the drain. And on top of that, the civilians now think "..oh I don't have to worry about the 85+ people anymore!", and use the passing lane as a travel lane. Again, like a clogged drain. Left Lane Blockers uphill, Left Lane Users downhill. It's frustrating.

Oh, almost forgot: for folks not from Atlanta, OTP/ITP, "outside" or "inside" The Perimeter (I-285).

And what I'm saying is that 55 mph on a huge berkeleying interstate is ridiculously low, and specifically designed for the collection of revenue. If you feel that you're traveling at an unsafe speed at 85mph, park your (proverbial, not you, necessarily) ass in the right-most of the FOUR berkeleying lanes you have to pick from, and let the big kids "fly" by you.

On my commute, the posted speed limit is 70mph. The vast majority of cars are doing 75-80, which, from real world, every day experience, having literally made the trip a little over 5,000 times, I've never gotten popped for anything less than 10 over. If I'm not mistaken, they CAN'T in the state of Georgia, ding you for less than 10 over on an interstate. To suggest that 10 over is totally safe, but 15 over is "ZOMG YER GONNA KILL SOMEBODY FLYYYYYING BY ME" is the dumbest goddamned E36 M3 I've ever heard in my life. Which is why I say "berkeley you, Sonny Perdue. berkeley you Johnny punk ass Isaakson, and berkeley you, Saxby Chambliss." It's a load of berkeleying big-government, uniformed tax collector horse-E36 M3, designed by a bunch of fake ass berkeleying "Sulthuhn Democrats" in Republican clothes, with NO berkeleying data to support that driving at 55 on a goddamned 8 lane highway is safer than driving 85, and it needs to berkeleying stop.

Nevermind. Boortz said it ten times better in half the words.

If I ever meet Sonny Perdue, I'm going to be hard-pressed not to spit on his berkeleying shoe.

I'm still just sitting here with my jaw on the floor because Boortz & I actually agree on something. We possibly disagree over why this thing is just to raise revenue, but on the fact that it is, the man hit the nail on the head. Even taking into account the fact that officers working speed patrol in GA doesn't even look at you for 10 over (I've heard the same about that as you have..and I've seen it on surface streets as well as on the Interstate), the traffic flow issue is real.

Super Speeder for 17 over? Holy crap, I'd be screwed before I left my driveway
