I'm having trouble coming up with anything good to get my dad for his birthday.
A little back ground on him:

-59 years young

-Runs a vintage car shop

-Vintage racer

-Hiker (Doing the whole AT)

-Golfer

I'd like to budget about $50 (I'm poor) but would go higher if it is something I really think he would like. Anyone have any good ideas?

What about a nice set of leather driving gloves, like these?

In reply to Jumper K. Balls:

Good call, everyone needs to have at least one snap on tool on the chest. Just to say they have it. Can't go wrong with booze

AAA memebership for when the old cars break down? I kid, I kid.

Does he like Blipshift? A gift card from them maybe. Golfers always need golf balls.

Nice booze

Gift certificate to a course he likes

Does he lose a lot of golf balls? Do you know what kind he plays? Buy a dozen (or two) of his favorite golf balls--Pro-V1 Titliest would be my go to, but I get them for free.

Gift certificate for a massage (my go-to for my mom, but Dads like them too!)

New album of an artist that he likes?

New underwear?

Posters (re-pops) from some of his favorite vintage races?

Buy something that is not 'just stuff'; that either gets consumed or is experiential.

I'll second (fourth?) the booze or massage ideas. Or tickets to some music or sporting event he would enjoy.

My dad and I also have a tradition of getting each other completely frivolous, kitschy toys - like a wind up, sparking Godzilla.

Consumable items are the way to go at that price (my opinion).

cigars
booze/beer/wine
fancy steaks/cheese
golf balls were a good suggestion
hard to find ammunition if he's into guns

My rule for birthdays is something you wouldn't buy for yourself.

How about 18 holes at a nice place?
