NOOOOOOOO!
I wanted to run the 8c.
The XFR is a street car in GT5, I ever get my game data reinstalled I'll set mine to online so you can test it. It's a lot like the E55 though, and you have to beat the top gear(Or know someone who dupes) to get it. So I doubt many folks will have it or even use it.
Darn, the old 300SL doesn't count as a GT. 1295kg stock weight, FR layout, fantastic looker and driver, no back seats.
I would have loved to run this:

I tuned up a lexus is300 sportcross. For some reason there are no turbo or supercharger allowed so it cannot get enough power. I have a couple other wagon type cars that may not be on the official list, but they will probably not be my picks, but they will be faster than the 240DL.

The IS300 handles quite well. Shame you can't paint them.
I am assuming we can install aero if it's available. I don't recall seeing anything to the contrary. IIRC it has been available for avery thing I've tried so far.
Aero is allowed if available.
The only thing that is not allowed is the Power Limiter because it is cheating. It allows 100% maximum power throughout the rev range. Not realistic. If it scaled the entire powerband down in a linear fashion, I would allow it.

Ok, thanks. Something occurred to me last night when I built a couple of GTs. If you build it close to the max. hp then it improves due to breakin/oilchange we can, as we have before, use the PL to bring it back down to the max. allowed, correct??

Grae, I think no power limiters means no power limiters. One of the cars I tuned for GT class has about 23 different ways to get to 551 hp, but I could not find a combo that gets 550. That is before break in though.
In reply to T.J.:
If that's the case we'd better build them about 25 hp below the max. @ the start of the series or if they're new they could acquire too much power due to break in that they wouldn't be leagal at the end of the season. It also means I just threw away the two cars I built last night.
edit.: I was basing my assumption on the fact that from my entry into series two we were able to use the limiter on the MX5. I really don't see a problem with doing that to bring a few hp gained over the max. back down as needed. Otherwise how could you possibly know where to limit your builds????

We weren't supposed to use the limiter on the MX5's. The engines were supposed to be completely stock. No changes at all that added any power whatsoever. At least that's how I understood the rules. For these new series, I think you can mix and match options to get as close to the limit without going over as you can and if you are still in the breaking in period maybe you'll gain a hp or two over the course of a race. When you bump up to a limit of the rules, then swap out some components to stay below.
TJ is correct. No power limiters... Period. If your build goes over, then you will need to pull off a part or two to get below the limit. This can usually be done by swapping air filters or ECUs.
Power limiters give an unfair advantage. Not allowed.

I would assume if through the process of lightening a car that if the final step goes below, we can use ballast to make up for it?

Yes, that is allowed for this series.

I guess since there are a handful of weeks until I have to really commit, I might try out some more cars, but I think I am pretty much settled on my choices for this series. There are a few more cars I need to build and test out to be sure though.
I haven't decided my GT car yet. I just ran all my test mules on a 2 lap hot lap shoot out at Fuji and the results were very surprising... I might end up running a car that I had previously discounted.

I would have to say the same thing. I've narrowed it down to two cars in saloons and 2 in GT. I actually like driving the slower of the 2 saloons because it's easier to drive. If I can learn to run consistent laps with the other one though I'll have to select it. It would be funny if these two classes end up being the same cars.

I might sit this series out and rejoin for the next one. I need to get a project in my garage finished and have house projects I need to work on to get the house ready to put on the market.

Brad, race #1 at SS7 is a WC track (not reflected on the schedule) and also has no pit.
We are not going to run the WC variant of the track. Round 1 will be dry.
Thanks for confirming the lack of pits... we will run light damage this week.

I did a lap there in my Lexus...I hit over 215+ mph without really trying to optimize the setup in saloon trim, about 10hp shy of the limit. A couple of the turns required sustained full lock while over 200mph to make it without lifting.
I still have not looked at cars for this but I am thinking I want to run some sort of 4WD just because I have not messed with them much so it should be interesting.
Has anyone maxed out any of the 4 bangers? Can you even get 650hp out of them?

Let me double check that.... i'm pretty sure you can get close with a couple i have in mind.
I'll be in tonite if my internet co-operates!

Well, that kind of kills it then. I guess I have to start looking for used Audi's then. There is always the 06 RS... piggy, piggy, I will have to see if that thing can loose 600kgs!
I will try and quickly prep one for some testing tonight if we do that again.

I played around with A Nissan Stagea 260RS Autech Version last night. I think it can make it to the 650hp limit (I currently have it at 550hp, had the rules wrong in my head) and the minimum weight. It's not a 4cylinder though as it has the inline 6 GT-R engine in it. Essentially an R34 Skyline wrapped in a big boxy Volvo 240ish body.
If I can get it to turn I might give it a try. Not sure if it is on the list of approved cars though - haven't checked yet.
EDIT: Looks like it maxes out at 555 hp. Not sure how many miles mine has, maybe an engine rebuild is in order. Either way the M5 and the IS-F seems way faster.
