I sorta like the 70 Challenger. It was fun trying to get it through the double hairpin turns at Indy. It is no ballerina, but it makes good sounds and seems to get up and go all right. I'm not going to use it for the series though, but it would be fun if someone did.
Too bad the Jensen Interceptor isn't a premium car....

I'm thinking about it. 574 ftlbs of torque is making it awful tempting.
Plus mine has an oh so cool vanishing point paint job.
Any idea who's running what? I don't want to step on toes with my car choice.

I'm probably going to run
- GT - 2005 Mustang GT or
- Saloon - (R)S4 or RS6
(I am hoping AWD will help offset the sport tires and power derived traction limitations)
ok. I've made a final decision on my GT car. I am going to run a black on black XKR... Fear it.
Also, I hope everyone runs Mustangs.
you could run a black on black XKR and a black on black S-Type R and be all Jaaaaguar...

I haven't came across the Jags for sale so I don't have either the XKR or the S type R.
I tried out a Mustang and quickly discarded it. I even painted it in a ugly irritating paint scheme to remind me not to ever drive it again. I like the Camaro though and by the stats the two are similar, so it's a bit confusing.
I wish the game had a CTS-V in it for saloon.

That will look great. I got to where I really like that combo. on the Volvo, especially up close. Occasionally I see that combo. on the street and if it's a clean, nice desireable car it really captures your attention. My MGTD is black with tan top and interior.
I've got a 10 Camaro painted bright yellow with the yellow lettered Goodyear tires and black wheels, wing, and splitter. I'll probably run it just because of the way it looks. If I gain a little more confidence in being able to control the throttle on snap oversteer, I'll probably use the M5 in white with black trim. If I don't gain that confidence I'll use the not as difficult to drive Lexus ISF, either in it's stock red or a color combo TBD. I'm finding both of these classes of cars to be rather difficult to be fast and consistent in but nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the next series. I wish we could get full 16 car or close fields everyweek. Even though it would hurt my finish positions It's so much more fun dicing with many cars on the track.
Come on back Chimp, get those internets fixed Nick!

Both Jags. are available new I think.
Hey, guess what? I found an 03 Audi S4!!!
Guess what again? It's actually slower then the RS 6 Avant 08 I setup, even though the Avant is couple hundred pounds heavier. Goes to show you, lighter is not necessarily the best way to go.
The S4 is not that bad, but it is really nose heavy! (60/40). I think the Avant works a bit better because its a wagon and has a bit more in the rear. I will still keep an eye out for an earlier Avant to see what those are like. I would still like to run a 4WD if I can make it competitive.
There is a car that is clearly faster then the others for me, so I might have to go with that.
BTW - If anyone really likes shifting, the Lexus IS F has something like 12 gears!! (OK, I think it is only 8!)
As of right now I am planning on running an RS4 Avant as my saloon car... But I still need to test the M5s.
My RS4 is pretty quick. My Bobs can compete in the Supercar challenge with it.

I sorta dig all the IS-F shifting. It takes some getting used to though.

I bought the GT version new last night and happened upon the Saloon version in the used car lot. The torque curve of the GT one is crazy, it peaks at 2k or so then tapers off. It's a bit porky, but I can see why some would pick it.

Autolex, accept my friend request and share at least 1 B spec driver. I'm running a remote race right now and you are not making any free money.
EDIT: Grae, same goes for you. If you share a B spec driver or two or 5, when I run remote races you will get some free cash. It's not much, but it takes no effort on your part.

Nope, Fear the XK Coupe Luxury.
Because it makes 80ish more ftlbs of torque.
Alright, after my testing tonight stopped short due to a crippling inability to stay connected to my own lobby, I've gotten closer to a final choice.
In Saloon it is a 3 way tie between the XFR, 300C, and Commodore SS.
The 300 is really fast, but it's damn hard to string together decent laps. It will also light up the rubber in 4th gear if I'm not careful with my shifting.
The XFR is like the 300, except it eats tires less.
The Commie is like the S type R, in that I had to add weight to get to the limit, but it's kinda squirrely and the first 4 gears are useless because they're really short, even geared up to 215 mph.
I've added wings to the XFR and the Commie, so I'll see how they do tommorrow.
For GT, I'm leaning towards the 70 Challenger, with the Gran Turismo S, DB9, and XK coupe luxury running up behind. Mostly because I didn't get to test them tonight.
Funny thing about the Challenger, it seemed really slow while I was running laps with it(got disconnected during my first timed lap), but wasn't having any issues cornering and was actually hauling ass according to an anonymous bystander. So unless my other 3 choices are much faster, I'll stick with the R/T.

The biggest problem with the S4 is you don't get boost and it's 100 hp down from the limit fully tuned. If you can find it, a good option is the 01 RS4. 645hp, 480 ftlbs of torque, 1318 kg, and 56/44 weight split once you move around the extra 82 kg. It's the 6 banger, so it's a bit rev happy compared to the grunt of the V8s and 10s, but it's still pretty good.
The standard RS6 Avant is pretty much like the premium, only lighter at 1418kg and with a 60/40 weight split.
E: Didn't notice Brad is running the RS4....
Also, I've decided on the Commodore, as I screwed with the suspension and it hooks up quite well now, even on ss tires.
as I stated previously, I was planning on running it too... I am waiting for it to show in the used car room...
Edit: just saw, it WILL make the power, just gotta keep grinding till I find it!
I have an RS6 (makes power AND weight) an RS6 Avant (makes power and weight), and two different years of the S4 (both make weight but about 100hp short on power)...

I'll kill it with fire...
Pyrenees Black Pearl on Pyrenees Black Pearl... looks pretty wicked...
Of course then there is my RS4... in Verde Countach...
I wouldn't count on AWD being the savior of tires and handling. I've spent a good amount of time playing with the diffs and power split... as you can tell, there is still a good amount of JDMDriftYo in her.

I've decided. Ran my 4 choices at both SS7 and Cape Ring.
The Challenger is almost 20 mph slower at SS7 than the XK, Maserati, and DB9. That killed its chances immediately. The Maserati is really slidey at Cape ring, and the XK was fast as hell, until the DB9 beat its best time by a little over 4 seconds.
Did the white on white as a joke, photo negative of Brads car, you know? Until I noticed it looks fantastic, and decided to keep it.
And the Lime Frost Commodore SS, which has next to no JDMDriftYo in her.
Both choices were picked because they are easy for me to drive fast and don't go crazy in the twisties.

That was my suspicion also. There seemed to be a lot of squealing going on so I am not sure the 4WD will be that easy on tires. Of course they will probably be a lot easier to drive with bad tires.
I am pretty sure my S4 was making the power.
Question: Are we allowed to lighten the car past the limit, then ballast it back up?
I'll claim bright red for both classes in series 4

Oh yeah Brad, for the first race, 3 laps might be on the short side, both groups run around 5 minutes a lap.
Tires seem like they could hold out for 5 laps or so. Even longer if it rains or snows. Speaking of weather, racing hard tires seem to be better than rain tires in the rain and snow. And if it's the goddamn snowy apocalypse like it was for me earlier, visibility is going to be impaired a bit. Giant DOOM flakes make it difficult to race.
Grizz, where does the schedule say it's a WC race?

There is off line. I haven't tried it on line yet.
