Post Office is still showing the box I send as just 'In Transit, Arriving Late'. At what point do I call them up and get them more actively looking for it?

The delay just solidified my plan to put together a supplemental mini-box using a small Priority Mail box to send some of the things that I should have included in the original box. Will likely get it together and off in the mail when I have the day off on Friday.

Unfortunately with the weather there's not a lot to be done.

You think this is bad, Grandma-In-Law's ashes were delayed in transit due to the same circumstances. Ma-In-Law was beside herself.

True... it was supposed to take like 5 days to get there in the first place (having dropped it off on a Saturday) and it does have to go like 2/3 of the way across the country. It's just not encouraging that they haven't reported it having been even scanned anywhere for over a week.

Yeah, that definitely sucks worse than a misplaced box of random crap...

Package received! Apparently it's been at the post office since the 6th too. Opening will happen when I get home

Mine should be out shortly, I wanted a thing and that thing won't ever come back in stock apparently so the thing won't be in the box

I really considered keeping the impact. When Stampie and I were trying to separate the transmission from the engine after pulling them out of the Morris, that was the only impact tool of the three on hand that had a low enough profile to fit on the fastener. Since it came in a previous NYG box, and it had saved the day for us, I figured it would be appropriate to pass it on.

The shift knob was from my E Street Miata. It was on the car when it went to Nationals and trophied (prior to my ownership), but a metal shift knob absorbs too much solar radiation for Florida. The Lassie watch and T shirt were given to me by a client, who said he had trained the TV and movie dogs. He looked old enough for that to be possible.

The box, and the coloring book, as well as some of the contents were resubmissions from previous years. I had accumulated a bunch of die cast toy cars, and I figured it was time to clear them all out.

Tools are always good, I got the screwdrivers last year I think. I always include a 10 mm socket, and the tiny channel locks may have been a gift from a previous NYG or from a Secret Santa from work. And who doesn't want stickers!

Thanks for the review, and until next year, enjoy your box of marginally to totally useless stuff!

I will attempt to continue the tradition of using the traveling impact on a crucial fastener before moving it on next year, then!  If the right car for the shift knob reveals itself I'll use it, we have the opposite problem up here and they get really cold in the winter.  The Lassie watch is going straight to work with my wife at the vet clinic, she's going to give it to one of the doctors there.

Even though I was super anxious to (carefully) tear into my GRMNYG box as soon as it arrived, garage stuff stays in the garage, and it was 8 degrees here yesterday. But today, it's warmed up to a toasty 32, so here goes!

Two things were immediately apparent as I opened it... First, my suspicion was confirmed and it did indeed come from John in Kansas, and second, Holy Cow this thing is jamb packed with stuff!! My original plan was to take pictures item by item, but there's so much here that I'm going to just post a few photos and talk my way through it all as best as I can.

Tshirts:

Food and stuff:

Some kind of giant wrench and a horseshoe (quickly oriented to face upward as my friend the problem gambler taught me, so it catches the luck):

And...stickers (including Interstellar Sledgehammer!), chili peppers, peanut brittle, horseradish (love that stuff!), Hot Wheels, a bent valve, some nifty tools, a huuuuge syringe, a citronella coil, some utility anchors, a Leatherman holster, a Kansas license plate and a firefighter parking sign. And a copy of the same book that I gave away a few years ago.

The last thing that I opened was a cardboard box with Johns name and address on it. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's a used fuel pump for either diesel or jet fuel (lots of aviation related stickers). Either way, it was determined to be the source of the box's special scent.

Of all the great stuff in here, I have to say that my single favorite thing is this ancient S-K 5/8-3/4" combination boxed ratchet. When I was really little, my Dad had its 1/2"-9/16" companion, and it was always the first thing that I would grab out of the toolbox when I wanted to play. Everything was either 1/2" or 9/16" back then and I've used it a million times through the years. I have better tools now, but I still have that old combo somewhere, and I will keep the two together now.

And one final look at this fantastic artwork. In case it isn't obvious, this isn't some quick magic marker doodling...that's PAINT!!

Thanks so much, John in Kansas. This was a lot of fun and you have certainly raised the bar when it comes to the GRM Art Box!

Got a wild notification that my Amazon book from a different thread showed up. Whilst I was at the collection spot, a wild box appeared! it appears a rubber man has sent me some items. I shall open them posthaste! I don't have a fun way to open a box this time, my home is sort of in upheaval as I prepare to (hopefully) purchase a home I can promptly tell everyone to leave from. I dislike my neighbors greatly. my edc ravencrest was at hand of course, so that got the call. As an aside, this is easily the best feeling knife I've ever owned. It's illegal in several states, but Florida doesn't care. Gotta love otf knives.

You'll also notice that I'm outdoors. It's gorgeous in Florida right now, and I had unwanted assistants that as it turned out, would REALLY want to play with what's in the box. not pictured is the third cat, he was mad at me for not letting him out, but he won't wear a harness so he doesn't get to go out.

Ok, enough lead, onto the box. here we go! Stickers, zip ties and...the biggest qtips I've ever seen! Also a smoke detector, and some wire splices. a couple watches, a BMW roundel (which is hilarious because I have a set of Lexus gold badges in my stash right now. Gonna upbadge something!) Several lanyards that suggest a trip to pri (and I am jealous) a couple of watches I'm curious about the provenance of, a stretchy keychain, a poncho and a hammer! If I had to take a guess the hammer was for hitting people and not for hitting stuff, based on weight and composition. another stretchy key chain, a Saab service manual on cd and an entire rca tv antenna? I'm gonna hook that up because I have no idea what my actual local channels are. I cut the cord several years ago and use streaming almost exclusively. And then.....the mother lode! Stickers and stickers and stickers and stickers. Coozies and coozies and coozies and keychains and swaggy stuff oh my. Someone definitely went to pri. It was sort of a dead giveaway....all this stuff was in a pri bag. reading material insanity! It's weird, I was thinking about engine stuff today, and now I have many catalogs.

Thank you Gumby, it was awesome. Though I'm a little scared of the qtips. I've had too many covid tests.

I'm glad you were able to locate this package. Tracking showed 6 scans in 2 days, with 4 different zip codes all in Kissimmee, before being dropped into a parcel locker.

Yes, PRI. I almost didn't bother going this year, but I wanted NYG box stuff and what better place to grab a bag of swag?

The watches came to me in a previous NYG box. I looked them up a little, but I don't generally wear and don't collect either, so I decided to pass them along and see them circulate until someone latched onto them.

The antenna works! I also cut the cord long ago, and refuse to pay for local channels. I got another antenna(also in a previous NYG box laugh) which got better reception on one of our channels, so into the box this one went. Hope it pulls in all the channels you desire!

Technically speaking the address on it was wrong due to a typo I made last year. It actually got my package sent back to sender last year, but somehow the post office got their E36 M3 together this year. I had my address written correctly, but bill and my pm communication was highly inefficient this time....so we reverted back to the one with the had address. My fault, but it's here.

Chores done I started opening the box of wonder.

Some great stickers. I especially like the Subaru one that says not to put it on your car.

A fuel filter apparently bought on sale at Walmart for $1.

A warning of things to come?  Safety glasses.

While unpacking this cool hi viz shirt something fell out.

This is what fell out. I'm sipping it straight from the bottle while I type this.

A pack of weather proof irrigation wire connectors. I thought of several projects I could use them on.

Then this package of meric retreading dies and it's companion of retreading taps.

A nice spool of 18 guage blue wire.

At first I thought this was a random wiring harness then realized it was a GRM car amplifier install kit.

Then came a box with you'll die warnings.

I decided that I'm far away from California so I was safe to open it to find a nice cut off switch.

Next was the amplifier that went with the install kit.  88 watts baby.

Then a random radiator cap.

And at this point my phone died so ...

I grabbed my tablet. After having to download a camera app I found cool rally hot wheels.

An air die grinder and I think a detail air brush?

Another die if you live in California 21 amp momentary switch.  Trying to think what I could use that many amps for momentary.

A oil filter that appears to be Miata sized.

Some led lights so I can blind oncoming drivers.

A miniature cone.

A bag of nuts with magnets stick to it.

A set of unknown brakes pads.

Some giant QTips. How you found out about my ear wax problem I'll never know.

And finally some really cool 8x11 car posters including a signed one.

Thanks EvanB. I love my first GRM Game box thingy.

The milton tool with the die grinder is made to lock onto a tire valve stem, remove the valve core and allow you to inflate the tire then screw the valve core back in. I never have a need for that so I just use it to remove valve cores.

Brake pads are for a Ford Superduty I think? I got them in a box from Patrick one year and still haven't bought a ford to fit them so they got sent along.

The radiator cap I bought for my Merkur but it didn't fit.

Here is my haul, I'm very surprised the fireworks/sparklers didn't cause a fuss because they punched a hole in the box there and they were almost hanging out lol

I am especially excited about the Hot Wheels starter kit(since I've never collected them and own none) and the +5hp sticker that'll go on my challenge entry for sheer awesomeness.

Well, look what arrived today! When my wife brought in the mail she said, "you got some car parts, they're heavy."

I opened the box to find a treasure trove inside and quickly realized I wanted gloves, and that I wanted to do it outside.

And boy, did the box deliver.

Box contents
Two maps - San Luis Obispo Co. and Coconino National Forest (Have not been to either)
Four matchbox cars-MK1 Capri, M3, 510 wagon, Escort RS1600
Envelope opener
Soda bottle keeper
Two electrical panel breakers
AMP electrical connectors and plugs
Business card holder full of business cards (Love this as I hate throwing away my old business card contacts. I may actually cold call some of these and say "Hey, Matt gave me your card...")
Top to a drink cup
Bungee tie down - for a jack?
Windshield wiper motor  - Mitsubishi?
Suzuki motorcycle or atv shock
Dual tank vacuum assembly - Air ride suspension?
Ford 5.0 throttle body maintenance kit
Two sets of Mopar 5.7L bearings
Napa ball joint for Ford trucks/vans – This fits something I own!
BBK aluminum tool/bracket/part?
Keychain laser pointer/flashlight combo – My cats thank you!
Positive battery terminal cable end - not auto though
Unmarked dropper bottle of liquid - Let me know how many drops to put on a tab.
RC car motor
Pull starter rope w/wooden handle
Various electrical connectors/plugs/small harnesses
One very worn set of brake pads
3M Dual Lock fastener sample/keychain
GM manual transmission hardware kit
Fuji industries equipment chassis plate
Round aluminum assembly round - stumped on this
Transformer
Two used bearings
Fused charge cable adapter
Two sets of screwdriver bits
Small electrical box with top
Small compass (does not point N anymore sad)
Carburetor? adjustment tool
8 to 15 mm box/open-end wrenches
10 mm socket!
5/16” and 1/4” deep sockets
½” and 9/16” box/open-end wrenches
Football shaped magnets
¼” to 1/8” inch audio jack adapter
Two random metal pins

This was super fun to both receive and dig through. Thank you matthewmcl (I'm guessing) and I'm interested in stories on anything.

This also got me motivated to get my box filled and packed. If I test negative by Saturday I'll drag mine to the post office and get it in the mail. Apologizes again that it will be delayed.

Not gonna lie, when my stalking revealed who you are, I was like WTF am I gonna put in a box for the guy who just won the Challenge? So I turned my attention to the box itself. I hate it when the box gets damaged and stuff falls out, and I have lots of filing cabinets and bookshelves, so...

I wanted to weld the lid shut but I was afraid of burning the contents.

I hope the disc is in the case. I never looked. Dag Nasty is one of my favorite bands from the DC punk scene of the mid-80's. And Rollins is a product of the same scene, albeit a few years earlier. He left DC in 81 to join Black Flag.

the 58 Chevy owners manual is from the wagon my parents had when I was born. It's in front of the 56 bel air in the pic below:

the T-shirt is a re-gift from last year. It's an XL, and I am not.

and the CAD, well, so far that's the farthest any part I made for MonZora has traveled. So far. :-)
