FTFY.
I used to drink in the enlisted club on base at 18, but had shockingly little luck in civilian establishments.

This state is a little special. All about the "good 'ol boys."

it's called progress... when I was coming along many states would serve 18yo beer ( 3.2) but still beer... enough of it and you'd be barfing ....
in NY you could buy anything at 18... and at the on base clubs it was 18 to drink ... at least at Great Lakes and at NOB Norfolk
Nice, we can all totally give him cigars at the Challenge now!
Happy BD- Tommy.
Wow, it's been a WHILE since we went to Florida. 2004 was the last time I saw you. A mere child...
So, any good reason why JG or Tom can't be a very, very bad infuence? It's only a beer....
I was talking with him at the Challenge, and he genuinely seems uninterested. I don't know how many guys offered him a beer and he turned it down. I respect him for that.
Happy Birfday....I remember when I was 18....no not really, that as too long time ago
I noticed Tom hasn't responded. I guess the girlfriend has him tied up.

FTFY. He's been a poor overworked Senior--thought they were supposed to get to screw off final year?--but I have seen him reading this thread (and the other) on his phone several times last couple days. He looked very pleased.
Thanks for being so sweet to the boy, guys. Even if he's not technically a boy anymore.
Margie
Don't do half the crap I did when I was 18.

We're boys until we die - the toys just get bigger and more elaborate.

To quote Guy Clark: "The only difference in the men and the boys, is the size of their feet and the price of their toys"
Thanks for all the kind birthday wishes, I was waiting to respond until after my birthday, so I could thank everybody at once.
I had a great birthday, and more importantly I can now legally buy more cars without my parents' permission!

geez, and I thought drinking was bad....
I think I'm gonna buy a shotgun before more cars, though. Mom, aren't you glad?
What's the best pump action shotgun? It'll be used for home defense and fun at the range/woods. I already have a long barreled 16 gauge shotgun, so I don't mind a short barrel.
It depends. I'd like to spend a few hundred bucks. But if you tell me that's a horrible mistake and I need to spend $800, then I'll save up for a while and get a new gun later. I'm cheap, but willing to pay for a good product.
I'll also add that I know next to nothing about shotguns, most of my experience is with rifles. I would assume most of that knowledge will transfer over? I have a shotgun and shoot it occasionally, but have never really researched different manufacturers, shot loads, the ballistics of the round, etc.
The obvious answer if you're looking to keep it cheap is a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. There are cheaper options, but from the examples I've shot, I could never recommend a Chinese gun. I don't like the 870, but you should look at both.

I am still amazed I made it to 18.
Its hard to beat the Remington 870. I would look for a good used one.
If you want the Duesy of pumps, look for a winchester Model 12. I think that is what the bad guys in Bullet used.
