A large number of people agree with me that a Mossberg beats the 870. I honestly wouldn't make room for one that wasn't a Police or Marine Magnum, and even in the case of either of those, I would personally rather put my money into something else. I agree that Model 12s are awesome, but I was working on the baseless assumption he wanted to buy something new.

In regards to the aforementioned Saiga, if I were going to trust my life to a semi-automatic shotgun, that wouldn't be a consideration. If you get one for a good price, they are fun to shoot.
