This morning I stood next to a Mallet 2-8-8-4. It was pretty awe inspiring to see such a massive beast. I managed to keep my creepily over-exceited talk of heritage equipment in my head though. The big beast consumed 10-12 tons of coal per hour and 12,000 gallons of water per hour.
