UPDATE: what a peice of E36 M3. in three months i have dealt with more issues than anything i might have had to deal with on my bronco. i could have a coyote 5.0 with the 6 speed ordered, and installed in my bronco, and had less down time and more money in my pocket.

first the lifters failed. ok, i knew that was coming. warranty was a joke, took weeks to get approvals, the repair took even longer, it was down 5 weeks. got it back, no oil pressure. back to the shop. remove intake, replace filter screen installed UNDER oil pressure sending unit. WTF GM? WHY? why a filter no one knows about, in the back of the engine, under a part that takes 2 hours to remove? ok fine, down another 2 weeks, im out another $400 cause the warranty doesnt cover it. get it back, now it burning oil, at the rate of 6 quarts per 2000 miles. i drove it to florida to get my boat, and the drive back was terrible. every tank of fuel i was dumping in oil. i could see it puff smoke every time it switched out of 4cyl mode. thats it im done. FU GM, i tried, im done.

i traded it in on a 13 F-150. With a coyote 5.0 and a 6 speed.

I love my burbs. Currently have a 69, 89, and 97...all 4x4s and mine have been great rigs. A buddies 2012 f150 with 69k miles just had an engine failure...E36 M3 happens but he isn't going to stop buying fords because of it.

well, dont buy one with a 5.3l and AFM, its a POS.

to be honest, my father had a 97 yukon, and drove it for 167000 miles without doing anything but changing the oil. thats why i bought the 08. all i had to do was change the engine...twice. im out...

sorry to QFT myself, but...... QFT.

please none of the rest of you buy an AFM 5.3. EVER. or if you find a good runner, buy the delete kit w/ cam, lifters, covers, and tune it out ASAP.

Interesting. When I was researching Pontiac G8s, I heard the same thing about the L76 in those cars. Guess it's a common issue.
