Probably won't be able to re-use this box for next year.   Note to self: to invest in a pocket knife.

The haul:  a full set of coil springs:

I know AWSX1686  rocks several Miata's, so I suspect these springs are the Answer.

Lock mechanism that I recognize as belonging to the Answer, really cool tool set with case that includes a spanner wrench, ratcheting screwdriver, bits, 3/8" ratchet with extension, and several hex sockets.  Also an electrical outlet with dual USB charging outputs.  The wife has already instructed me where to put it.  The outlet that is.

Also included was this Diesel Power magazine that my oldest son immediately latched onto, and is reading as I post this.  Some chevron green stickers, a pair of 40 grit flapper wheels, motorcycle awareness sticker, and a few wire nuts.  Thanks Andrew, it was worth the wait. wink yes

In reply to Indy-Barely Functional-Guy :

Glad you liked it!

The springs are in fact for an "answer" they came off of my very first one, a 97, they are VERY low springs. I opted for a more stock setup, but hopefully they are useful in some way.

I just parted out that same miata because the body was finally done, so that's where the door latch came from as well.

The socket/tool set was a Walmart special, but I find even the cheap tools are handy to have around occasionally.

The USB wall outlet is actually hospital grade, supposedly. My friend found them online, normally something like $40, and the website had a mistake on it so I think I got a handful of them for $4/each. :)

Diesel power came from my friend.

Chevron Green Stickers are from Republic Wireless, check them out!

Flap disks are for a 4" grinder, mine is a 4.5". Doh! Hope you have a 4"!

I think the wire nuts probably fell out of the outlet box. ;)

Sorry again for the delay, but I'm glad you enjoyed it, and the lightsaber opening was great!

Love the drawn out reveal, with the game winding down it's like shaking out and savoring the last bits of crumbs in the chip bag.

*sigh* Well, this hasn't worked out how I'd hoped at all. I arrived home yesterday to find a large envelope from the Postal Service Mail Recovery Center... in it was a letter that said "The enclosed has been damaged in handling in the U.S. Postal Service." and a lot more BS. Including (amusingly) apparently a wrong number to call about missing articles (the number rings up an I.T. help line for some random company...).

Enclosed in this envelope? A roughly 6" square piece of cardboard- part of the top flap on the box I sent- that has the Priority Mail postage sticker and my return address on it. Um... OK, thanks but WHERE THE BERKLEY IS THE REST OF THE BOX?!?!?! And since some one clearly cut out the postage sticker & return address from OFF of the box, HOW THE BERKLEY ARE THE CONTENTS OF SAID BOX SUPPOSED TO GET EITHER BACK TO ME OR TO THEIR DESTINATION?!?!?!  angry

I'm waiting for a call-back from the USPS's customer service line- and honestly feel bad for whatever poor customer service rep that calls me back, because this is weapons-grade bullshirt.

Since the phone number for the missing mail search was wrong, I pulled up the website (which does at least work). The main thing you have to do? List out EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM. that was in the lost mail for them to look out for (in theory) and if found send back to you. I probably don't remember half of the things that I put in the box- the things that I do remember, half of them don't have categories that they really fit under (what the heck category do you put a junkyard electric 'supercharger' in? Or one of the reflectors they embed in the road?).

Unfortunately, I'm betting that I'm just going to have to file a claim for the package being lost. While the insurance will technically be at least what I had paid for what was in the box, much of it were things that I didn't just go out and buy- they were interesting things I found while parts hunting in junkyards, or things I had around the garage. Thankfully the thing I was most proud of (other than that electric supercharger, which I found in the junkyard) I a) made myself and b) can re-make at essentially no cost other than a bit of time.

So, I apologize to the member I got in the exchange- hopefully I'll have a new package out (that the Post Office won't lose/steal/destroy/whatever the berk happened to the first one) by the beginning of next week.

What do we have here?

It certainly was...something.

Thanks daeman! Sorry your package is so late! And for another year in  a row, I fee slightly ashamed at what I sent out compared to what I received.

So glad it finally arrived, I was beginning to think it'd never get out of customs.

I really should remember to include instructions for vegimite consumption, it makes all the difference between being enjoyable and just downright awful.

It also makes quite a good substitute for beef stock and is great with cheese.

No need to apologise for being late, I got yours before you got mine. And don't worry about what you sent, it was well received and thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for pairing up with me and being prepared to ship overseas.

P.s. glad to see the luchador mask found a good home, it was a last minute inclusion that nearly got taken out again because I was borderline on weight.

Is it weird that this is making me honestly curious about vegemite?

I like it. I had never tried it before I received some from daeman. If you like salty foods you will probably like vegemite. It is really really good on a grilled cheese sandwich.

On an unrelated note, that little aluminum bicycle cutout has now been across the ocean twice! LOL

The matches are from the bar down the street from old house and pencil has the town I grew up in on it.

The big drill bit was my grandpas. The non slip things and the brass fittings are regifted from previous years. The bushings in the bag should either fit a Zetec or a 2.3 Lima

If a luchador mask was about to put you over on weight, how did you get a child in there?

In reply to Mndsm:

Well, there's actually a funny story there.... You could be forgiven for thinking that's a child, but it is infact Pedro, a short statured luchador who goes by the name el enano poderoso. He was tasked with the responsibility of hand delivering the parcel to Ross D, and that's the real reason it took so damn long to get thru customs, they were convinced he was either an unaccompanied minor or an illegal immigrant.
