That's the exact car we had here at our dealership. I kinda fell in love with that color. How are you enjoying it?

That car was here for 2 hours before a guy came up and cut a check for it. Hadn't even gotten the transport stickers and covers off it yet.

My GM said he'd sell any of my friends (which you all are) a Boss 302 at sticker, no BS markup at all. If you wanna spec and build one online, the zip is 76801. I think $45,500 for the regular Boss 302 and $48,500 for the Laguna Seca was what I priced them at... it's been a while.

Yeah, I've already taken some ribbing over that by some folks I know there for the Targa. Nice being a force to be reckoned with

Lesley, you already were. At least in our little corner of the world. Now can you make sure to douse Bill Caswell a little bit more than some of the others? He just seems like he needs to be swirleyed a bit :). Kthxbye!

I wonder if that's a real world 31 MPG?

Or if it's like my Elantra with a 40 MPG rating, but closer to 34 MPG (or less) in every day use at 70-75 mph with the flow of traffic. It takes staying closer to 65 mph to get into the 36-38 mpg range.

I'm going by memory, but I'm thinking the manual V-6 is rated at 29mpg highway and the auto is 31mpg. I could be wrong about that, but yeah, for a DD either would be great if that's really what you can get.

That was my thought. There's several tests floating around where they say they have averaged ~24 mpg with manuals. That ain't bad.

No, it's not, for a fairly heavy car with 305hp. But you never really know until you have already bought it and drive it yourself, since everyone has a different style and drive's on different roads. I would be looking to get closer to the 30mpg mark on my daily commute. I've been trying to find one to rent to try it out, but can't find anyone that has one, even with an auto. I rented an '05 for business right after they came out, and it wasn't hard at all, and now they seem to be non-existent in my area.

Not to hijack- My fuel economy target is similar, since I'm driving 130 miles round trip each day I want to be getting 30+ to keep costs reasonable. Must also have Back seats that will fit a 2 kids (currently 8 and 3).

I'll have to watch the reviews to see if the 2014 or 2015 get to the point of averaging 30+ with 90% highway driving in the mustang, since I've got a 12-18 months before the Elantra is at the point I want to trade it in (i want to trade while its still finance eligible so I don't take a big hit).

Otherwise it will probably be a MINI ( base hardtop or clubman), veloster turbo(bang for the buck), or Elantra (if my practical side wins out).

You'll be disappointed with the Veloster Turbo. Gearbox is no fun, steering is numb. Elantra GT is a decent car if you're thinking practical and is a bit sharper, firmer than you might expect. I wouldn't turn one of those away if it showed up in my driveway.

The best fuel consumption I got in the Boss was 8.9L/100 km hwy, but I averaged 13.0L.

I did the conversion and 8.9L/100 km is about 26.4 mpg. Your 13L average is about 18 mpg. Considering the intent of the Boss, the fuel mileage isn't bad.

Thank you for the info.

Its disappointing to hear that though, I figured by the numbers it looked good, but based on my timeline haven't investigated too deeply.

I'll have to see what is available with a manual trans, gets decent mileage, and is fun when I get closer to trade in time.

I luuuuuurrrvveeee the Boss 302. Dream car right there. And yes, the Recaros are worth every penny. I just wish it came in the same, sexy Deep Impact Blue as my V-6:

Mustang in front of a 60's burger shop sign. Can it get any more America F#&K YEAH!!! than that?

BTW, I'm getting 24-26mpg with 70% highway/30% city driving in my manual Performance Pack. V-6 (3.31 gearing). The regular 2.73 gears would be better on gas but you lose some acceleration in return.

bravenrace wrote: Also, I've been tempted to pick up a '11 or newer 6 cyl or GT. I don't really care for the '13 front end in comparison, but how much better is the '13 than the '11 and '12? IOW, are there enough improvements to suggest that I should just get over the front end and buy a '13?

2013 changes we care about: GT gets horsepower bump from 412hp to 420hp, all coupe models available with optional Recaro seats, in-dash Track Apps standard for Premium models (requires Sync), base models get leather-rimmed steering wheel instead of nasty '11-'12 plastic-rimmed steering wheel

2013 changes we don't care about: HID headlights with LED DRLS and LED sequential taillights standard on all models, V-6 Perf. Pack. available with autotragic

We have a minivan my wife drives, so mine only needs to fit the kids if the vans in the shop or I'm running a local errand. If we need to all go and bring along the normal kids equipment we take the van.

By the time I move forward on something new the youngest should be in a booster and the other may not need anything other than the standard belt, so the backseat only needs to be passable for small children(< 5 feet tall) and not car seats.

Hahaha! I keep telling people that and they keep looking at me like I'm a jerk, but at the same time I'm their best friend. It's weird but funny. If you should find yourself able to do it, let me know. I'm in Texas, so it may be a drive for you.
