My kid, that is.
This little guy right here. The other day, we were sitting in the Mazdaspeed, taking some weight off my broken appendage. He being an adventurous little bugger, starts toying with the steering wheel. Next thing I know, he's standing on my legs, hands in nearly perfect driving position on the wheel. THIS is where it gets amusing. He tries to move the wheel from side to side, mimicking driving. To top it off, he THEN reaches over, grabs the shifter with his right hand (keep in mind the left hand is still on the wheel) and makes like he's shifting the car. Once satisfied with his new gear (he couldn't actually move the shifter, clutch wasn't in....) he returned his right hand to the wheel, and kept driving. He repeated this action nearest I can tell, through all six gears. I wish my phone hadn't died, the video would have been priceless. I had a pair of friends witness this- they nearly fell over laughing. Made my day.
(He turns one on Aug. 25th).

Dad, you have a winner there!
Winner!
If he isn't racing shifter carts by age 10 we'll be disappointed.

It'll be sooner than that. We were testing Powerwheels the other day. Once he has a "lightly" modified one of those down, it's off to the track. Mom already said racing is OK, as it puts less physical stress on the body. Sure, the results can be more catastrophic, but the likelihood of him blowing a knee or a shoulder (as I am prone to do, along with breaking feet..... only the 3rd time i've done that.....) is lower.
His future's so bright, he better wear shades.
You're teaching him well young Padawan.
LOVE IT!!
Took my 13 year old daughter out today and taught her to get moving in the MR2. First try with a clutch and she did great!
My four year old called me at work Friday morning to tell me that she saw a yellow Ferrari on the way to day care.

+1. I just hope to be able to instill the same passion I have. I'll support him no matter what, but I know squat about sports that don't have wheels, tires, and racing helmets required.
