Apologies if this is a repost, I just saw it.

So, after sticking a knife in the back of American open-wheeled racing at the very moment it was gaining ground on NASCAR, reducing the prestige of the US' signature motorsports event (sorry folks, but I still say when you take the faster cars out and replace them with slower ones, you lose some bragging rights), and being an equal participant in the 12-year festival of whiny "blame game" BMW E36 that followed...
The guy's simply going to walk away. I find it hard to believe that Tony George simply engineered this whole mess just to become another team owner.
If he's successful in the series, and starts whining about the teams not having enough say in how the series is run, I'm going to mail my broken Ironymeter to his house and hope the radiation kills him...
Lost interest in the whole American open-wheel stuff awhile ago, but didn't the "family" ask Tony to remove himself as president/CEO of the speedway a few months ago?
Now he's leaving the BOD... Maybe people (finally) stopped listening him...
My prediction is that within 5 years, he will go the Penske/Patrick/Gurney-route and maybe start another new series.
I can even see he resurrecting the CART name, this time being an acronym for "Cognitively Asenine Racing Teams".
Everyone has to run a stock-block 3-cylinder out of a Geo Metro, OEM safety-spares from an NA Miata at all four corners, and a World-of-Outlaws wing on top of the PVC roll-hoop.
What could go wrong???

Anyone else think this could be a lot of fun? (aside from the PVC rollbar, I'm crazy, not stupid)
But PVC is in my budget and fab skill level

You know, we've actually been talking about setting up a car on a set of space savers for a track day. We have a couple of dozen of the things...

You know, SCCA should look into this idea... While the newest ST-legal tires are still slower than r-comps, the line is getting slightly blurrier.
Maybe have a new class with all ST allowances, but you can only run donuts at each corner. Viola, you now have a new STD class!!!
Again, what could go wrong???

STD... do not want!
Especially in ST...my street Corrado seems to weigh almost a thousand pounds more than the Civics, and less tire would make it worse..
STDs are never desirable IMHO

Yeah, a different class designation may be better... I'd feel kinda embarrassed walking into my local vinyl-cutter and telling him I need two sets of 6 tall letters for the sides of my car that say STD.
Maybe I didn't think this thru enough... Then again, the more I think about certain ideas, the worse the results become.

I think you should be allowed to run two good tires and two space savers. Or three and one. Just to add a bit of chassis tuning challenge into the mix
I'd hate to run 2 and 2 on a well balanced car like a Miata or BMW. But on a FWD, awesome - put the good tires in front and the donuts in back and WHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, if we're gonna have different sizes on every corner, we need to run on dirt.
