We're considering an Ionic 6 as my wife's next DD. Has anyone seen one in the wild yet? Hyundai's website talks about "extremely limited inventory" so I'm wondering if they've started shipping yet.

Related question - If we ordered one, does anyone have any insight as to how long it would take to be delivered?

As for the car, it seem odd that the larger battery pack with RWD is rated at 361 miles in the SE trim, but only 305 miles in the SEL or higher trim levels. The only difference that jumps out at first glance is 18" wheels vs 20" wheels. Is that alone enough to knock 56 miles off the range?

I've seen one or two around Berkeley. Striking car. Not my cup of tea, but given my sons good experience with Hyundai, I might well choose one over a Tesla were I in the market.

It's the 20 inch wheels and some of the technology. The collision avoidance system, ambient lighting, digital key, wireless charging pad, etc. all eat up battery.

I don't like the look of the 6 NEARLY as much as the 5. The 5 looks awesome in person

Are the Ionic models a cause of concern with insurance companies?

I'm hearing more and more reports of Insurance companies canceling Hyundai / Kia models due to all the theft and fire issues

Ah. That makes sense. All things I imagine we'd want. But I'd happily drop down to an 18" wheel. Less weight and tires would be cheaper when needed.

I think the theft issues are with a particular model or two, not their EVs.

I really like the way these look and the focus on efficiency. If you drive one, give us a report.

20s vs 18s since none of the marketing photos have the 18s I had to use the online builder.

In reply to singleslammer :

If the 18s are on the red car that wheel blends far better with the Tatra ethos of the 6's styling. I have now seen both the 5 and 6, and they are both knock out lookers. Incredibly different, and I have not seen them side by side. I would probably buy the 5 for the utility, but if I ever wanted a sedan, the 6 would top the list.

I can't quite get over how the front end looks like a New Beetle. I prefer the blockier 5.
