I prefer my .45, but I'll take a .22 over a blunt object. They will tear someone up.
I'll add hyperbole to the the list of things that don't work on the internet. Sarcasm should enjoy the company.
Still, not that it's the end-all, be-all measurement, but .22lr has a hatcher rating of ~4 or 4.5 maybe. Chances of stopping someone quickly with it are relatively poor.

Yep, If you keep shooting at them they are not gonna keep charging. Well, unless they are really berkeleyed up on meth.

Well the good news is with a .22 rifle, yoy don't have to choose between a .22 or a blunt object, you've got both!
Window A/C units can be popped out pretty easy if they aren't secured well to the window frame... and block the window from sliding w/ a stout piece of wood, pipe, etc.
Neighbor got ripped off in the middle of the afternoon a few months ago (jewelry, cell phones, laptop) by pushing in the A/C unit. Neighbors did their own leg work and found the antique jewelry that had been hawked at several stores. Our local PD is pretty good but they just don't have the resources to track down all these breakins.
Perps were 14 & 15 y/o girls

Somebody should have blown their heads off with a .45. Right?

Since sarcasm is wasted on the internet, I'm going to point out that a 14 or 15 year old girl would probably flee at the first signs of an armed confrontation.
I do hope they're carrying felony burglary charges on their records though.
In reply to MG Bryan:
You are right about the sarcasm. I just can't bring myself to use emoticons.
for most robberies.. a .22 will stop them as well as a 9mm or a 45.. NOBODY wants to get shot.
Those high on drugs or what-have-you are a different matter

You obviously haven't been following the recent case of the 15 year old Missouri girl who murdered a 9 year old to "see what it was like".
In florida if they steal a gun from a home robbery it is 10 years in the pen minimum
I figure if you start lobbing rounds in their direction, they're not going to hang around to find out what the the pistol/rifle is chambered in, and a .22 makes a helluva noise in a hallway.
Funny thing about dogs is no one wants to get bit either. I got 3 dogs that would lick someone to death before they did any harm, but they keep the gypsies away
Bummer about the stuff though man, I guess if the robbers weren't stupid they wouldn't have to break into houses though right?

someone got me too ... sometime in the last 3 - 5 wks ... stuff from under the carport .... weed eater, leaf blower, and my new HF blue "racing jack" LEO is working the case ( under a $1000 so it's not a felony) so far no luck .... odds are they were sold at a flea market as opposed to a pawn shop
Lobbing rounds is extremely irresponsible. If you discharge a weapon because your home is being burglarized and/or you life is threatened, you shoot to kill.
Fact is, the average man isn't going down the first time you shoot him with a .22LR, regardless of whether or not he is high. It's a E36 M3ty round to try to put down anything of size. There's just not enough energy transfer.

Coincidentally, my son's house was broken into yesterday. There was a 2 hour window when no one was at home and some lovely soul kicked the front door open in broad daylight and made off with an xbox360, a pile of games, a laptop, and some jewelery. His flat screen and computer were left behind - I figure they were too big to carry.
So, being the harbor freight whore that I am, I decided to check them out for surveillance cameras. What do you guys think about this?

It seems like a pretty decent value to me. What do you guys think?

How about a 4 camera system with all REAL commercial quality for under 400.00? Shameless plug, but it is my business. PM me. Delete if I have offended the moderators.

Derick- Not received. Please use cwhanlon@comcast.net. I have had problems getting PMs before.
I just worry about the saftey of my wife and pets. Anything else I have can be replaced. That being said, if any moron tries to get into my house, it will be a shoot first and ask questions later scenario. 15 y/o girl or not, if you come in my house with out permission, I am going to assume that you have intent to dissrupt my quiet life.
It stinks that someone took your stuff, but I really would suggest changing your routine around for a while to throw any people off.
Oddly enough, the email I sent direct was returned as well.

Conveniently, most people don't want to shoot, they just want to brandish.
Which is why so many home owners find themselves having their own gun used against them.

If someone is in my house uninvited, I assume they have a firearm as well. I'm not going to wait long enough to find out.

Look and see if the link is copying the period at the end of the e-mail address. If so, delete the period and try sending it again.
