The Freon was obsolete. The condenser outside was only 5 years old. That's where the $150.00 per pound for Freon comes in. They would do it but the cost was crazy. Edit to add again: Aaaand that Freon goes unabtainium Jan. 1 2019.

It's 22 I'm guessing.
Better off getting rid of it now honestly before it gets phased out totally.
The price of it fluctuates like crazy too since it's such a pain in the ass to get.
Oh, It's gone alright. So is the downstairs unit. Hence my rear end pain.
