In reply to Beer Baron :

I was thinking about that last night also.  Just wanted to clarify the point on Jaeger.  It turns me into a wanna fight everyone drunk.  That was when I was young.  I don't really get drunk anymore.  But anyway it wasn't the snot reaction with Jaeger.

Admittedly I am not a fan of Monkey Shoulder at all

::Shrug:: And some people aren't fans of heavy peated Islays. I'm guessing that someone into rums, bourbon, and Seagrams VO will like Monkey Shoulder more than Laphroig.

Personally, I prefer Lagavulin over Monkey Shoulder over Laphroig.

Is Laphroig the one that tastes like Ambesol and campfire?

Irish alcohol will cure you.

One time in my 20’s I really wanted to see my buddy’s band play.   I was sick with a significant fever.  They were at an Irish pub, early 90’s, winter hot loud and smoky.

I drank only Irish beer, a couple car bombs possibly a shot or two of whiskey.  Woke up the next day.

Not only cured but felt better than ever.

I’ve been out and about, had two Bud Lights and felt like I got run over by a train.  Cheap and dirty has its place but not in my body.

I don't know what Ambesol smells like, but probably. Other heavily peated Scotches I'd describe as "campfire", "cigar", "driftwood bonfire", "barbeque rib char"... Laphroig tastes like blowtorched kelp.
