Is that right hand drive? I can't say I understand, but I support you.
Bonus points if you buy it and then put Chevy badges on.
In reply to barefootskater (Shaun) :
It is right hand drive, in possibly the oddest trade deal imaginable Toyota sold rebadged Cavaliers in Japan. This has to have started out as a joke that went too far.
If you do get it, you need to take it to both a Toyota dealership and a Chevy dealership to see which gives you the better reaction.
Do you really expect any of us to try to talk you out buying this?
Apparently, they were sold in Japan from 1996 to 2000, so import eligibility will depend on the year. My understanding is the actual manufacturer's date on the door jamb data plate is what really matters.
That's 2000ish. The kid's first car was the US version of that car with a stick and in "alpine green"we bought from a friend for $850. I had just gotten it all sorted, AC working, etc. My daughter got tboned by an F 150 that blew a red light with my son riding shotgun. Thankfully the point of impact was just behind the "B" pillar which spun the car and took some of the energy out of the hit. Both kids got out with only scratches and bruises but the car was not so fortunate. I still love that little E36 M3box...
Hey, if you want 4 cylinders of cast iron pushrod goodness coupled to a three speed automated gearbox that gives you the power of a four, but the mileage of a V8, more power to ya. But can you at least paint flames on it?
Just know that with rhd that drive thru windows by yourself become nearly impossible (at least really difficult.)
220 km = 136 mph. Pretty optomistic but probably only by about 25 mph (on a long stretch.)
My Gen2 Prius is governed at 107 (ask me how I know)

Not, it needs to be lowered on SSR Longchamps for that full JDM vibe.
I want a square eye Cavalier fastback, but I'm not right in the head:
I flogged two square eye Cavalier E36 M3boxes for years. One leaked oil so fast I added a quart with every tank of gas. Slow, noisy, but never ever left me stranded.
About a hundred years ago I dreamt of a 1986 Cavalier Wagon dressed up like a Z24 with a turbo 3800 and a Getrag. Last week. A hundred years ago was last week.
In reply to mtn (Forum Supporter) :
I'm pretty sure the last Cavalier is still the only reader's ride to generate hate mail. When we traded it for the Fiat Jodi tried to get more money for it because it was famous.

Actually, Drivers drive, passengers deal with the foodstuffs. It is the way.
In reply to John Welsh :
My last Cavalier topped out at 106 but it wasn't happy. It was also on worn Blizzaks in July but still.
John Welsh said:I would recommend an Initial D livery. Sorta wrong, sorta right.
Or a TRD livery:
I vote InitialD but instead use English on the door that says "Fujiwara tofu store (for home use)"

I have no passengers now, I doubt a classic Cavalier will change that.
