Hello there!

My name is Darcy. I see that there are no place for introductions on this forum, which is unlike most other forums I usually use. It's a good place to get to know someone, so I figured I'd just post my own introduction thread in the most appropriate section. Moderators can move the thread to wherever if this was a bad spot. Or if I missed it, I apologize in advance.

As I said, my name is Darcy, and I've been doing some browsing of these forums all day, and see that there are a lot of knowledgeable gearheads on here! I was motivated to join here, from the forum Sixthsphere.com . We had a new member join our forums just to see our For Sale threads (we have strict entry requirements) and he mentioned this website, and I'm all about joining new websites and meeting new car enthusiasts!

I currently drive a 2001 Saturn SC2.

Originally had a beige interior, so swapped the interior to black from a donor SC2 and SL2, raised the exhaust higher to conceal it (I like clean, not fartcans) and I have ST lowering springs, Saturn Ion Level 3 wheels, Hein 1/2" rear spacers, and a bunch of small stuff like a Saturn Vue auto-dimming mirror with temp and compass, double din stereo, Pontiac Torrent gauge cluster, yatta yatta.

I also own a 2000 Saturn LW2

She is currently getting a new engine and transmission put in, low km and picked her up for $250.

You can bet you'll see a build thread on both cars in the near future. I am pretty knowledgable on Saturns if there are any on here, and I look forward to meeting a lot of you guys!

Thanks, - Darcy T slipstreamconversion

Hey all. My name is Nate and I'm also here from sixthsphere.com. I too took an interest in this site when I heard about it from a current GRM member that wanted access to 6S for the for sale section.

I put my car in my garage here, but here's the low-down anyway. It's a 99 Saturn SL2 and it was an automatic when I got it, and I converted it to a manual. I got the car for free from a friend because it needed a head gasket. Being as this is the 4th Saturn I have owned, one of which being boosted, I decided to rebuild this one from the ground up to be a like-new car, and boost it too. All of the work was done by me. While the list is too long of all of the stuff I have done but here's the short list:

Precision 5431E MFS turbo, .48 hot side; Turbosmart Ultragate 38 Wastegate; Turbosmart Vee Port Pro BOV; 2.25" Intercooler piping; 28x7x2.5" Intercooler; 3" Turbo-back exhaust, 300 cell cat, Magnaflow resonator, Dynomax Ultraflow SS muffler, discreet exhaust turn-down for less attention grabbing; Scat forged H-beam rods; SP 93 SOHC pistons; ACT 6 puck sprung clutch; Megasquirt 2 fuel and ignition control; 50# Racetronix injectors; SRT-4 Aluminum radiator; AEM Wideband; Glowshift boost and EGT gauges; Hein 1/2" rear hub spacers; Sparco Assetto Gara 17x7 wheels; Completely rebuilt suspension and front and rear subframes (with full urethane bushings); Eibach springs/KYB struts; The list goes on...

Glad to be a member here!

I had a dream once that I went to Bonneville with a 1st gen SW2 and set a land speed record. I don't mean like a MLK dream, I mean like an actual dream, at night. It was weird, but I still think about adding a turbo to one and seeing what it can do. I know the Saturn can take boost if done right! Oh, and welcome!

That LW wagon is an auto....

Also, sixthsphere is a saturn specific forum. I've heard of it, but never joined as I prefered redlineforums.

The LW2 is indeed an automatic with the 3.0L V6.

Redlineforums are good for Ion knowledge and some SC/SW/SL knowledge, but Sixthsphere is performance oriented and knowledgeable with SC/SW/SL and beyond. We have many turbo projects, a RWD project, a TDI project, LNF swap project, you name it.

Thanks again for the welcomes, I guess we are kind of invading ;)

Love the cars, guys. I'll always have a soft spot for Saturns, they were just so different from everything else at the time.

Not that it's related to the S series in least, but I've been wanting to swap a Cobalt SS engine into my Astra since we bought the car.

SO. MUCH. PLASTIC.

Welcome aboard! I used your website a couple years back when i was doing a motor swap on SWMBO's brother's SC2 that had blown chunks. Very helpful.

I'm sure one of you fine people would enjoy this Progress adjustable rear sway bar i have for it that i fronted for her brother, right?

Howdy howdy. Looks like you two should fit in without a problem. Them some pretty fly ass looking Saturns. (really, the sc2 has something about it. Probably the wheels.)

That is all. Carry on.

In reply to Ransom:

LOL thanks.

When I was breaking my engine in (before the turbo), it popped the lower radiator hose and got hot before I noticed. Everything seemed fine, but then I put the boost on and now it's burning oil. I think it either warped the head, or distorted a cylinder when it over heated not causing any serious issues N/A, but the boost just did it in. My tune is a little rich and the timing is conservative if anything, and my EGTs never went over 1300 so it couldn't have been detonation.

So out comes the engine in the spring again. Pisses me off because I was so anal when I put everything back together that nothing should have gone wrong with the engine.

Welcome guys! You'll find we're pretty accepting of weirdos here.

My mother had a SC2 for years and I always was surprised by how well it held up. As a young man, I remember being draw in by Saturn's early marketing; I always wished they had managed to stay out from under the GM umbrella a little more.

Welcome! You've stumbled into the right kind of crazy. We love Saturns here. Sometimes I miss my SC1. It made double digit horsepower more fun than it should have been.

Welcome to the enabler zone Never ask this crew to talk you out of anything!

BTW, Saturn's are downright conventional in comparison to some of the projects that have come from this forum's members!

For many of us, modding a Saturn still isn't about just modding a cheap car, it's about what Saturn was as a company, their business practices, and their employee relations. When GM stepped in back in the late 90's and the UAW leaders started being babies, they wrecked it and ultimately brought on Saturn's demise. So besides being ridiculously reliable, they also had a good business behind it all. Darcy, tell them how many KM's you have on yours with nothing but regular maintenance.

Had to pull this one from the archives. The year is 2002 and while the SC2 wasn't dominant in autocrossing, this guy came in from out of town and absolutely slaughtered the ES field. Sneaky Saturns!
