Kiwi Vigilante Fills Fart-Can Exhausts With Expanding Foam

The concept of vigilantism is one many of us struggle with. We all want to have faith in the law, and in the police force to uphold it, but sometimes you’re left with the feeling – no matter how irrational– that the only solution is take the law into your own hands.

An eye for an eye, primal justice, a disabled ‘Milo tin’ exhaust for interrupting a peaceful Sunday morning breakfast at the beach.

Going by the name ‘Phantom Expander’, the vigilante has been filling the exhausts of unnecessarily noisy cars with expanding foam. And of course, the main perpetrator in this category is the aftermarket exhausts found on the ‘90s models ‘boy racer’ 1.5 to 1.8 litre non-turbo Honda Civics and Mitsubishi Lancers.

Apparently the foam needs a good four hours to set, which has allowed many of his victims to escape serious damage, having enough time to clear the foam from their exhausts before it hardens.

No doubt the Phantom Expander’s illicit activities will come to an end eventually, with the only question being whether it’ll be at the hands of Johnny Law, or Johnny Cricket Bat.

That guy needs to grasp what the hell a fart can is. That civic has a decent exhaust on it. Big can, reasonable diameter pipe, downturned tip, etc...

My little Miata has an exhaust that some people might consider "unnecessarily loud". It sure ain't quiet. I wonder if this guy would try to stuff it with foam. I wonder how many other people on this board would be given similar treatment.

But... yeah... most ricers probably deserve that.

Some of you say hero, but regardless of how he might be saving your ears it's still someone else's property he is f'ing with and there isn't a doubt in my mind that if I caught someone vandalizing someone else's car I wouldn't roundhouse kick him in the face. Even if it is a ricer, a crappy modification to the car, someone put time and $ into it and in their eyes it's their pride and joy. I sure as hell know if someone did something to any one of my cars they might be going off into shadow land.

So she just reached in there and pulled out that glob of foam? It looks like some of the foam also dripped out of the exhaust. She definately shoulda put on gloves first.

A Civic with a stock engine a raspy catback and a totally unnecessary 5" diameter exhaust tip A) looks stupid B) shows a lack of taste and C) is louder than stock without either sounding tuned or offering much performance gain, but it doesn't have even a fraction of the blatantly illegalality, obnoxiousness, and permanent ear damage potential as a Harley with straight pipes. Surely there must be some way one can be a "rebel" without instantly deafening all within a three block radius!

I am no fan of ricers or boy racers but, I hope this bastard got the "johnny cricket bat" treatment. he shouldn't be berkeleying with peoples property like that...
