My decs and trim need painting. I hate painting, and am short on daylight hours. Someone mentioned renting an airless paint sprayer. Dont know jack about it, or its use.

I rented an airless sprayer when I painted a house SomeTimeAgo. It worked great. Stick the end in a 5 gallon bucket of paint, start blasting. Hold up a giant paddle to the windows and spray the trim. Be sure to use a heavy extension cord.

They put a lot of paint on- I'd say ideal for what you are doing. Test spray some old plywood or what not to get comfortable, and go for it. Clean immediately, and no worries. Totally worth the rental if someone can keep one clean enough to use.

I bought one a few years ago. I use it every year or two and it's the business when applying mass quantities of paint in a minimum time. Cleanup afterward is key.

How far does the overspray go?

Not as far as a compressor & HVLP gun-bigger particles. Still, I'd stretch plastic on the house, and mask well. Cover anything within 10', more if windy.

I use an old Wagner I got ~10 years ago. Every 3 years I mask off the trim on my 8x12 shed and spray it. Takes longer to get set up and then clean up than it takes to paint the shed. Usually ~15 minutes to actually spray the whole thing.
