Yes. Yes, they will. You will go: '100, 99, 98, 97, 9.........' and then wake up.
whether you can sleep or not isn't important, the lack of being able to eat or drink anything is always a pain.

That's always such a necessary and at the same time terrifying thought/thing to do.
In reply to drummerfromdefleopard:
I thought that was a joke until I took my wife for a procedure and they made her circle and initial the correct hip.
In reply to Wally:
I've caught an error with the incorrect side on paperwork when going in for an ACL tear, I made sure to mark it before going in, and they had me do the same thing regarding the initialing.
Tom just got out of surgery, everything went well and he is now the proud new owner of six stainless screws

That's great! Glad it went OK. Now he gets to have fun at metal detectors...
That's great, Margie! I was going to say "break a leg" before the surgery, but, you know, people might take that literally.
You sure they are stainless? Not Titanium? And a 300D with a slush box should keep him out of trouble for a while....

They are probably a "type" of stainless steel. Stainless steel is a HUGE category of steel alloys.
Also, my plate and screws don't set off metal detectors.
I had two big plates and 12 screws in my forearm for a few years back in the 80's. I never set off airport metal detectors then. Jewelry doesn't now either. I'm not sure what the threshold is to trip the alarm but implanted bits seem below it.
