Yeah, I had that really screwed up! My apologies!!
Update here because we're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with house repairs and painting:
We ended up using a Sikaflex product to fix the cracks, and in the process we learned that I'm a lot better with a caulking gun than Tom is. The good news on that is that our house will look nice when it's done, the bad news is that now I'm stuck with every caulking-related repair for the rest of our lives. Which will probably be a lot of them, given our house's age.
Here's what one of the main problem areas looked like after crack fill (and yeah, our paint was in BAD shape):

No, not sure. But he's good enough at enough other things where I'm ok taking this one for the team.
Besides, now I'm free to fix certain things around the house on my own without having to wait on him to finish up with car stuff first.
