It's cool, I couldn't make it through Fear and Loathing either, but yes the one liners and simple living of the Dude is just enjoyable to watch. I also really enjoy the secondary cast members.

In trying to qualify what I like about this film...I think it mainly comes down to The Dude's lifestyle, appealing to the small part of me that would love nothing more than to smoke pot and go bowling all day long. That aside, it has some genuinely amusing moments, and the characters are all very fun to watch. Lastly, the bizarre-o/surreal tone of the film is an interesting departure from the norm.
