We brought a new family member home this weekend:
It's a 1968 Evinrude Sportsman 155. It's old, it's funky, and it's practically like new for $3500. Already had it out and it runs right along. We must be geniuses, because what could go wrong with a nearly 45-year-old unrestored boat? (I figure it'll get us conditioned for our trip out west this summer in the Edsel.)

I envision the Edsel pulling this boat.
I also see Tim wearing Bremuda shorts, a madris plaid shirt and green lense Wayfarer glasses.
Yourself in some cat eye glasses and a beehive hairdo.
It's been a LONG time since I saw something like that on the water. Better looking than some of the new boats.
In reply to jrw1621:
Close. Here's a similar model with no less than Sean Connery on it:

Webernets fail! (Just kidding, don't put me in the patio!!)
No kidding. Stupid image wouldn't behave. (And you know what? I've looked at that picture several times, but it took me awhile to realize the Thunderball boat is an outboard. I guess my eyes never made it past the, uh, windshield. Who can blame me?)

Sort of looks like a dunebuggy version of a boat with that flat windshield. Probably too heavy to have a Manx tow it but that too would be a cool looking combo..

Cool, old boat. But what's a Sean

Margie
not surprised
As for outboard and I/O engine choices.. many speed boat makers in that time offered the same hull with each choice. The I/O being the more upmarket/deepwater boat and the Outboard for more deck space and less draft

If its not, its identical and I've never seen one as good of condition as the one he sold about two years ago. I have fond memories of riding in the good old Evinrude all over Norris Lake TN.
Good old Buick V6 power too.
Very cool.
Needs mor Flipper
Edited for hotlink incompetence

Just checked against old pictures I had. Its not the same boat (unless the boat somehow ended up in NY after it sold) BUT the one my grandfather owned was the same year, and model. Great boat!

Margie- You look great in that picture with Mr. Bond.
Thanks, Chuck. I did love that bikini, but I had to throw it out--kept stabbing myself in the face with my pointy Sixties boobs.

$5 says it never makes the magazine.
Someone would be part of a patio expansion if it did.

You know, I keep hearing about this patio. Forever I've heard joke after joke about Margie and this patio. Whats the story on this?
Shhhhhh. She's got the prints out and expanding.
She doesn't need to use the patio anymore or as much cement...two old spackle buckets, half a bag of cement and a late night cruise on the intercoastal in her bikini and no one would notice you tied up in the back...
Margie learned that bodies float in the bay.....
ah.. cement shoes.. the "Family" would be proud
