since the last winner, the way the lottery works got changed and the odds got three times harder. it went up to 75 numbers vs 54, IIRC. Some are saying we may see our first billion dollar jackpot...

If you go for a drive to pick up a ticket, you're far more likely to die in an accident on that drive than to pick up a winning ticket.

Sshhhhh
In reply to mndsm:
Nope, I'll even melt down every single LSx block pulled from one.......probably use the molten aluminum to cast bellhousings for GRM friendly engine/transmission swaps into anything non-lsx powered.

Yes, but from the drive I get to enjoy driving, and from the ticket I get to enjoy daydreaming.
I'm equally likely to die driving for a taco, but man does not live by meatlike substances alone; it's nice to daydream.
Considering that I'll drive for no reason at all, I'm not deterred.
(I know the point wasn't that driving is dangerous, but to put the astronomical odds against winning in perspective. I had fun anyhow...)
I think I will not buy a ticket and still have pretty much the same chance of winning as anyone who did

My grandfather always said, "the lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math."
I'll be buying a ticket though.
Sadly, I wouldn't want to win that much. Michigan requires your name and picture to be publicly available. No thanks.
That's just wrong.
If I won in Michigan, the first thing I would do would be to use my massive to wealth / power to file a lawsuit and bribe (I mean contribute to the right campaigns) to change that. Getting some sort of injunction to prevent the release of my identity under fear for person safety would be the first move.

We all have passports, have your name and picture announced just after your flight leaves

You don't have to give them those until you go to collect. At which time, you will have all the coin you need to bugger off to someplace else with a new name. Wear a disguise when you go for the pic ;)

You have what... 6 months to cash the ticket? It takes probably about 2 weeks to change your name. The rest of the time can be used to dye your hair, grow a beard, get funky looking glasses...
Otherwise, go rent an apartment in a neighboring state, etc.
You'll need to log in to post.
