I have many really fond memories of playing games with my dad. We used to play Gyruss all the time but never beat it (although did get quite far). We got a game genie and played Super Mario (1) with cheat codes but still couldn't beat it. There is a bowser/castle level that if you don't do in a certain order it will just repeat forever... we didn't know that. And this was long before we could just google it.
We also upgraded our Compaq Presario 486-33SX computer to have a Sound Blaster 16/CD-ROM combo card in it, which supported a Joystick and played the hell out of Chuck Yeager's Air Combat circa 1994 ish. He had a disability that prevented him from playing with me much after I was 10-12ish :(
I built a console PC out of my pc upgrade leftovers just so my son and I can play the hell out of games I snag on steam sales.
Thanks guys....you gave confirmed I am officially too old. I never played video games with my dad primarily because home computers were in their infancy (early/mid eighties) so we fmdidnt have one. I will say I don't think there is anything wrong with a dad playing games with their kids tho. As long as they are spending time with their children and being a part of their lives they are doing better than a lot of guys out there.

Although I am the guy that posted the meme about "No boy remembers when his dad played video games." I'm also the guy who's son grew up through the early '90s playing console and PC games together. Mech Warrior, SWOTL, Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D - learning to create our own levels, and on into WoW leveling and raiding together.
Still, I think these guys are doing it right:

One of my friends had never experienced Evil Dead 2, so we set about to watch it from one of his many streaming services. One of them had unskippable ads and the movie locked up after one of them. Just went to opening screen when the ad was over.
I mean, I have the DVD, but he has no DVD player because STreAmINg
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
It gets even better, lots of newer low-end tv's don't have any video hookups, just HDMI. Luckily my grandson's Xbox will play DVD's but if you don't have one of those you're stuck unless you have an adapter squirreled away somewhere
