The wierd part is how unexpected it turned out when we have been preparing for this since 2017 when he had COPD realy bad. So even if you are ready for your parents to pass, it's still a shock. And it's something we all have to deal with (or have already).
But thanks. I appreciate the thoughts.

That's ok. I just got a new to me truck. It's multiple owners and many miles have created a few eccentricities. The chief one I finally figured out. The high beams are wired to the low beam switch and the lows only come on when the high beam switch is toggled. All the lights, high and low are on when the high beam switch is latched.
I was blinding the crap out of people.

Sorry for your loss - my prayers for your family.
My dad was a car guy and I cherish the fun we had and when I dwell on it my face smiles.
In reply to alfadriver :
My dad has been fighting CHF for the last decade, slowly losing ground the whole time. I dread the day his disease finally wins...
Alfadad's heaven probably resembles an Italian classics road race.
Godspeed to your father, and His blessings upon your family.

So sorry for your loss. Mine is 88 and I treasure every minute with him, it sure sounds like you did too. Hoisting one for your Dad, a car guy just like we are.

Ninety years is a pretty good stint on Planet Earth. Sounds like you guys were close, a relationship that will bring you ongoing fond memories.

My sister's dog is suddenly having eruptions from both ends that involve some blood. Despite Nyx only being in the house for about a year? not even, really... my sister and my parents are super attached to her. As you do with a dog.
Listen closely you stupid pieces of E36 M3. I am getting sick and God Damned tired of being the only berkeleying contractor on every berkeleying job that is capable of doing their berkeleying job. I barely have enough time and manpower to do my portion of the job correctly. I damn sure don't have time to hold your berkeleying hand while you figure out your share. I'm also not the scheduling guy on this job. Remember the part where I'm working for you? Remember that part where you called me to specifically say the job absolutely has to be done on this day? Guess what berkeleynuts, it's that day and I'm done. There is that little fact that I just locked an entire school out of a building because you aren't ready. That part should not be my problem you dumb piece of E36 M3. But no, your berkeleying incapable ass is going to make my guys end up working late on a Friday afternoon to make sure the customer is happy. Am I the only berkeleying contractor on the planet that cares if the customer is happy? Seriously.
What the berkeley is wrong with people. The number of them who have been promoted beyond their capabilities is absolutely astounding and I'm really getting tired of dealing with it.
It's no berkeleying wonder I end up stealing everyone else's customers. What a bunch of incompetent berkeleys.
The Peter Principle is alive and well.
I'm reasonably certain (95%) there is a kidney stone working it's way down my right piss tube.
If I am correct, it will feel like I've taken continuous shots to the kidney for the next three days, then like someone's tossed my right walnut in a vice, after which I'll feel like a million bucks while I pass it.

Its contagious?
Sorry.
Kidney stones for me usually have a fairly simple cause- a.k.a. Recon being a berkeleying idiot. Too much playing in the heat, too much soda, and not enough water.
I will survive, I'll just be a grumpy shiny happy person til this is done.
It was just one of those frustrating weeks where it seemed like nothing was getting done.
I've been working for a month on one section of trail and when it actually stopped raining for a few days I was finally able to reopen it to traffic - reluctantly, and because I was having tractor problems. It wasn't ideal but the forecast was good and it looked like it was going to be OK. All the work I did would redirect the water and keep it manageable as long as nothing severe happened. Then we got a torrential downpour Wednesday night.
I drove farther than I wanted and paid more than I should to get a throttle body for my car to modify. And realized when I got home that it has 5 point screws not Torx. And I don't have that tool, and won't be able to get it for at least a week.
But that's ok, the special tool I needed to recharge the shock on my bike came in. At least I can get that job done. Or not. There’s something wrong with the valve on the shock and I'm going to have to replace it, probably with a better system, making the tool I just bought obsolete. And it's two weeks delivery.

Good news: Despite the dog making the house look and smell like a charnel house for about 12 hours, the vet says it was "just" gastroenteritis, if I understand right. She's back to zooming about the house and acting just normal today. So that's the opposite of a rant, but I didn't want anyone worrying about a poor little pup!
I probably have an infection from this kidney stone. Constant urge to piss. And when I do, liquid fire.
Doc is already on it, but, berk, can I get a break?
In reply to Appleseed :
Oof.
I came down with a head cold last night. Our lives are just berkeleying peachy right now, aren't they.

Not really a rant, but bad news....
My dad passed today. Nobody here has met him, as far as I know (maybe Pat did, but I don't think so), BUT he is why I am on this board. He was a car guy through and through. First brand new car he bought was a 1959 Alfa Romeo Giuletta Spider Veloce. He had a love-hate relationship with it- as it was pretty fragile, but he loved that car. After that was Lotus Elan, Barracuda, and Corvette before going family oriented driving.
Before he bought his next sports car, an '88 MR2, he bought me a '77 Alfetta GT for school. And that started me down the path of being an Alfisti.
He ended up having an '88 Alfa Spider that he didn't drive too much- but he really enjoyed getting it after we got active in AROC.
As a kid, we used to go up to Mid-Ohio to watch SCCA races, which was really fun, and before that, he went up to see CAN-Am races a few times.
Celebrate that he was a car guy, and that's all. I'm very, very fortunate to have had him as my dad. He was 90.
Im sorry to hear about this, it's always tough losing a great parent
My rant:
I am burned the berkeley out, like "berkeley this" level burned out.
I need to spend a few days with limited stress doing what I want to do

Could be worse. We could have ass cancer.
In reply to Appleseed :
A fair statement. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Little bro moved across the country last summer so his wife could be close to her family. Just found out she took the kid and moved out. Not sure how to help my brother. He has zero support out there, but I don't think he'll want to move back here and hardly see his kid. Not sure he's getting to see the kid right now anyway. I worry for him. Situation sucks.
Got everything laid out and marked to dig the footings for my deck and the backhoe won't start. The carb is flooding and tapping it didn't free the float. Tear it apart and the float is full of gas.
I have a spare carb but it has the same issue, I was going to order a new float a couple months ago to rebuild the spare but never did, now I have to wait and hopefully get it fixed for next weekend.
