That is an awful feeling. I have wrestled with it myself. I hope that you are just being too hard on yourself.

Also an awful feeling. The RIF train rolls around Mega Corp every few years and it sucks, it sucks if you are the boss, it sucks if you aren't the one that gets it and it really sucks if you are the one that does (happened to me 2x early career).

And I just got the only negative performance review I've ever gotten in my adult life.
I wish TechShop was still around, their metal working tools would have been handy today to make brackets for an oil cooler and thermostat.
Was anyone here a member? It was a high end makerspace that over expanded and bankrupted itself in 2017. Membership was steep but having a work space and tools for metal, wood, fabric, 3D printing, etc. and a suite of Autodesk CAD software under one roof made it worthwhile it for me.

Taylor Swift? Never heard of him.
Lol, actually in all seriousness .......I couldn't name a Taylor Swift song if my life depends on it. I'm sure I've heard one, but no idea on what she does.
I don't think she will be covering Electric Wizard anytime soon so this trend will probably continue
I got a quote back for production investment castings today. Not only were they 10X the cost of everyone else, but they listed a leadtime of 5782 business days.
I asked our QA department to measure a spherical set of radii on a machined part on their CMM. They gave me back one signle number. When asked, they said that it was all they could measure. The number didn't match anything on the drawing.

My BIL is actually a good guy. He doesn't believe my ignorance of pop culture is real. He once said something about Katy Perry. I said that I didn't know who that was. He called BS, but I really, at that point, had not even heard her name. Some months (years?) later I was getting into the van and it was on the XM station where it's just ads for some reason, and I heard her name in conjunction with a song, so I texted him "hey, now I know that she is a singer". Just last month she showed up on the home screen at work of the news (we can't change it on one of the browsers so it's MSN or some garbage), so I saw her picture. I texted him again "Hey now I know what she looks like".
It's the same with Swift. I saw her picture somewhere recently. His wife said something something about a football game she went to, and how excited she was about something something. I didn't get it. She looked at me like I grew horns. I don't understand why anyone cares.

If anything, maybe it reduces the gambling commentary that seems to be taking over every sportsball game..

Ugh. From what you've had to say it sounds like the problem is more a failure to set reasonable goals and expectations than your failure to meet them... Not that my place of work is any better, but I'll keep my ear to the ground for anything that pops up.
I'd like to learn and follow the discussion, from a safe distance!, but I think we're likely closing in on a lock.

I think I'm ending my participation there. I've said my piece.
One Side Is Clearly Right, and anyone who dares to disagree is not welcome. I think the problem is much deeper than which particular flavor is misbehaving more overtly at the moment, but some people don't want to consider that possibility.
I am personally offended that the intermittent misfire in my expedition isn't being solved by replacing coil pack this time...

Thank you. The big issue is the nature of my job changed, and the newly added elements are just something I am having a very hard time learning. It's pretty much industry-wide, so if I can't figure out how to get good at it, I'm looking at a different career path. I'm likely going to be putting a lot of hobbies and other things on hold for the foreseeable future, to have time to push through as much training as possible.
Ok, I'll cut you some slack because you're a new shop, but berkeley man. If you're bringing in a guest artist FOR WALK INS ONLY, maybe don't drag him into massive group appointments all day then complain when others fill in for him on the walk-ins.
12 minutes of needle therapy today after a 3.5 hour wait, because the scheduling person couldn't find their ass with both hands and a map.
Shoulda been a win, I haven't been under the needle in years, but that ridiculous wait time kinda ruined the mood.

Every.
Berking.
Day.
I'm so annoyed with medical billing. Mystery amounts, estimates that are always under 50% of the final amount, everything is a phone menu, none of the email addresses take my reply, all of the fields are required fields, and everyone wants to pick their own method of contacting.
Just tell me the thing you're about to do will cost me $500, let me give you $500, then never hear from you again.
Looks like I learned to not mix brands, or that a 37 degree flare isn't the same everywhere.
Assembled AN hose for the first time, used Earl's hose and hose ends, but cheaped out on the pressure test kit with Fragola. It was $20 cheaper ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The plug with the schrader valve kept bubbling under water but since it was from the fitting side I figured it was the connection. Thankfully I had a couple of conical seals from a while back and the bubbles stopped after using them.
I scrambled this week to get a fresh motor together for my Miata for the last race of the season and it ran a little more than half of the first practice session before it came apart. I don't know yet what failed but it's got a dead skip and it's pumping oil out the exhaust.
