Why is it my fault the bedroom light didn't get turned off? I'm laying on the bed in the "haven't been replaced in over 3 years" boxers I put on after my shower last night. My wife climbs into bed. I say, are you going to turn off the light? She gets mad at me, because "You're closer, plus, I'm already under the covers" berkeleying what?!? I never sleep under the covers. I sweat too damn much thanks to whatever is wrong with me. I usually use a sheet only to keep the breeze from the a/c from giving me chills on my glistening body at 0300.

She gets really huffy about it. She gets up, all shaking her head and stomping around, turns off the light switch and then stares at facebook for an hour before rolling over and going to sleep. If I was the one who rolled over without kissing her goodnight and saying some bullE36 M3 I love you, I would get a bunch of crap and a cold shoulder for 2 days.

Heard from SWMBO not too long ago- the ultrasound on our dog came back showing that has stomach was distended and they're pretty sure there's a blockage in his intestines, so they're performing surgery now to find and clear the blockage. Though it sounds like the vet is optimistic about it and expects they'll only need to keep him overnight for monitoring, SWMBO is worried sick about him and despite trying myself to be as optimistic and upbeat as possible I can't say that I'm not rather worried too. Neither of us being particularly religious all we can do at this point is trust the vets' skills- but prayers can't hurt anything either.

Just heard back that the dog is doing fine- though they didn't find any blockage, just that his stomach was very inflamed. They're keeping him overnight on an IV for fluids and meds to try and knock down the inflammation. It's a definite relief- but at the same time it's also a bit worrisome since they still don't know exactly what CAUSED all of this in the first place and how to ensure it doesn't happen again...

Yeah. On one hand you hope they don't find anything majorly wrong- but on the other if it had been something easily identified as causing the blockage they could have removed/fixed it vs. there not apparently being anything causing the problem...

Incredible. I spent all morning assembling two very tall, very heavy, and very narrow pieces of equipment for a trial here at the glue factory. Upon finishing I said to my boss "Hey, these things are pretty top heavy. It wouldn't take much to knock one of these things over and it would make one hell of a mess if I guy were to be standing there when it happened. You want me to toss a couple anchors in or brace these two together?"

"Nope" he responded in his matter-of-fact boss tone, "It's not worth the time, it's just for a trial".

Guess A. what just happened and B. who they immediately tried to blame.

Nobody got hurt, but seriously, berkeley this place. That was a pretty good reminder of why I do things the way I do things and why I generally disregard orders. They could have killed a guy to save 20 minutes.

We looked at an apartment last Wednesday. The current tenant was in the process of moving out; it looked like he had about 3 pickup loads or else 1 uhaul load left. Decided we wanted to rent it, and put the application in that day on the spot. Were approved, and signed on Friday. On Friday, the remaining stuff in the rental was so minimal that I could have probably fit all of it in the trunk of my Miata. There wasn't even anything to sit on. We were hoping to move in early ahead of the start date, September 1.

Well, the landlord and the tenant got in a fight. He called the police. She is now not allowed to enter the place until 12:00AM September 1. Which means it can't be cleaned and the furnace can't be fixed. Which means I cannot move in this Saturday and Sunday like I had wanted. Lovely.

The good news is I'm getting some money back on the rent. Always look for the bright side, right?

Stuck my right index fingertip w/ a wire from a SS braided hose last night. Damn, that can bleed. Wrap w/ a rag, duct taped and then bandaid to no avail.

Loctite 404 to the rescue. Now I have a hard crown that slides off my pen and computer mouse. Least I ain't bleedin' all over E36 M3.

In reply to fasted58: I know you have a few years on you now, are you taking any blood thinners (aspirin, plavix, warfarin, etc)? If so you'll bleed a lot more than you used to.... Just one of those fun things that we have to get used to as we age.

So far things are going well enough with the dog- biggest concern is making sure he doesn't try and lick or chew on the stitches (had like a 8" long incision they closed up ) and that he doesn't overexert himself and rip them out. So far though he's been a bit more lethargic than usual and hasn't seemed to be too inclined to do anything that would rip them out. We were kind of surprised that the vet said him jumping up onto the bed wasn't going to be a problem, and so far it looks like they were right. His appetite seems to be good though which is encouraging.

SWMBO seems convinced that this was caused by something to do with his regular food and where it was stored, which is going to likely mean throwing out $40 or so of dog food. I'm not convinced, but at the same time with some of the issues he had it sounds like we should be putting him on a different diet anyway so we'd probably have to anyway.

Seriously. Fifteen years ago, my grandmother with metasticized cancer, after beating breast cancer twice in her life. She was 79. Three years ago, my grandma with Lung cancer. Passed at 87, so not a tragedy. This year, my grandpa with colo-rectal, 91, again not a tragedy.

A year or two ago, my MIL with breast cancer, on top of her MS--she beat that at least, since they caught it so early. A year or two before that, my aunt beat breast cancer. Now my cousin was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma, and is thankfully doing well and will beat it.

But my uncle, 56, was just diagnosed with cancer of unknown (to me) origin that has metastasized to his liver. Or maybe liver cancer that metastasized elsewhere. I don't know much on his case, but looking online the outlook is not good. And he is the nicest, best person in the world. Seriously a wonderful person. I'm really not a happy camper right now.

Cancer can go berkeley itself.

My pregnant wife just backed her car into my car. Mine took the worst of it. Oh well, at least it is just a Camry. No way I'm claiming either on my insurance, I'll just take it to Sentry in Lilburn after I push the dent out. Or not. Hell, it's a silver 2002 Camry. I'm just glad I never pulled the trigger on that 2002 XJR, then I would be crying.

Lots of things in pet food could cause an allergic reaction that could lead to inflammation. We went through that with Linus. My suggestion is don't buy the big bag of food, go with the smaller, cheaper bag, at least until you've established it isn't causing a problem.
