So today I started with these, 25 year old vertical blinds........ nasty things.
And ended up (after a trip to HD and an hour with a drill)......with these!

Somebody in my complex threw a curb-rashed 19x10 Chinese cast aluminum wheel out by the dumpster. Thing has to weigh a solid 25 lbs.
Guess who's getting a free lunch tomorrow after a quick stop by the scrapyard?
This guy!
Ordered a set of wheels for the truck Good Friday afternoon. Figured w/ the holiday weekend, delivery oughta be a week out or more, no hurry or expectations tho.
Easter Monday Fed-Ex delivers the wheels at 9:45 a.m. Holy crap, that was fast.
Fifteen minutes later I received an email from the seller. Order Status: your wheels have shipped. I'll say.
Just got home from the zoo with the little one. I guess this even makes up for not being able to work on the car all this weekend.
I've NEVER seen this child so well behaved. And there were no lines because school is still in session.
Gorillaz are coming to Atlanta in October - tickets went on sale this morning, and 8 friends and I now have tickets to go. I can't wait!
Went to the gym this morning and was accused (in a good-natured way) of taking steroids.
Four scoops of whey, every damn day.

I am seriously considering getting one soon. I shot 2 different ones over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed both.
Scored the European/Japanese market BP-5A "square top" intake manifold for my BP-4W build off of eBay for $200 + $75 shipping. Winning.
I just got a call from the company President's admin, said he'd like to see me right away. They hired me 18 months ago to complete a specific project, which started mass production last Monday. Hmmm, could be a handshake and a pink slip, could be an attaboy with some $. Well, y'all know what thread this is, so it was not a handshake and a pink slip.
I have two this week.
1- The Wife has gone five years since her stroke. Her docs told her that most people have a second within five years, but if she could get her issues under control and go five years the likelihood of a second would drop greatly.
2-I'm stuck working nights this week, and I hate buying expensive food in Manhattan. Tonight I was stuck at a call near a place that barbecues chickens that smell great. When my call was finished I overpaid for some chicken and a cream soda and sat near Central Park enjoying perfect weather and a nice chunk of bird.
My AR parts are starting to show up. Got my Browning buckmark target pistol out of gun jail as well. need to order a 1-4x optic.
Also I found a fantastic older professional 2 stroke weed eater on Craigslist today and man is it 100% better then the 4 stroke crap we have in California.
My challenge car ran for a few seconds!!!!
And my daughters soccer team won this morning.
Other than that, today has not gone according to plan.
Edit: finally got the bent parts out of the miata, it reassembled, and an alignment eyeballed. Was a lot harder than it should be, but its done.
I got 5 yards of mulch put down in my yard this week and I finished today before the COLD Chicago spring rains came. It's a balmy 41dgF today.
Cooking something for the first time makes me happy. Made cornbread from scratch last night.
Cooking in the cast iron skillet turned out quite well. No sticking at all. But the pan is large-ish, so the cornbread was only about 1" deep. I would welcome any tricks, tips, or recipes for good cornbread.
Start new job tomorrow. Even though it isn't the position I wanted (don't get me wrong, I'm grateful!!!!), it is the position I NEED to get back on track with LIVING.
Oh . . . and Gin from a local distillery
In reply to Beer Baron:
I can help you out there.
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 Tbs baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup shortening + 2 Tbs shortening
Preheat oven to 450°.
Combine cornmeal, flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl and stir to combine. Measure the buttermilk and milk into a measuring cup and add the egg. Stir together with a fork. Add the baking soda to the milk mixture and stir together. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
In a medium cast iron skillet (about 6" to 7") over medium heat, melt the 1/4 cup shortening. Add melted shortening to the batter slowly, stirring just until combined.
Then, in the same hot skillet melt 2 Tbs shortening. Pour the batter into the hot skillet and spread to even out the surface. Batter should sizzle when it makes contact with the pan. Cook on medium heat on the stovetop for 1 minute, then transfer to hot oven and bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Enjoy!
