So I'm looking at having to move a really large shed in the next month or two. Like 11.5' x 32' large. Any suggestions, or experience moving such things?

Oh, and moving it like a 100 miles, move, not just across the yard.  If I was going to do that, I would jack it up, get some large ~10" diameter fence posts and just roll it.

Biggest issue is how tall is it. Anything over 13.5 will require permits.

That width might also.

I'm fairly certain that width would require special permits. Height might be a problem too.  And moving it 100 miles would require professional movers.  Cost of moving it would probably end up being more than the cost of a new metal building that size.

It's a stick built metal skin shed. We're discussing finishing out the inside and using it as a mother in law suite for  my grandmother at my dads place. Basically the largest thing I could get at a buy here pay here shed place.  I don't believe it's over 13' tall. Could be wrong though. Haven't measured that.

I have moved a 12X16 across town. Big trailer, jack up the shed, back the trailer under it, and drive off. Removal is reverse of loading.

I think the permits are going to be your biggest problem. You will be too wide and probably too tall by the time you get a trailer under it. And moving it 100 miles means you can't sneak through in the dead of night like I did.

You might call a wrecker company or someone that sells portable buildings and get a price from them.

Cut it down the middle.

Got any friends with big-ass choppers? Maybe a home made Blimp?

Take it apart and move it in pieces?

100 miles. How many different boroughs and townships? All highway?

I honestly think by the time permits are gotten and a trailer big enough acquired, it would be cheaper just to buy new, or even an rv.

Could always take it apart and put it back together, but that's its own can of worms.

I'm with the rest. By the time you do everything legally, you're better off buying a new shed, unless you disassemble.

The how involves lifting the building up about a foot or so, backing a suitably large trailer in the middle, screw several 2x12's to the wall studs across the building, lower it onto the deck of the trailer and drive away.

Getting around all the corners for 100 miles, and the permits mentioned previously are the bigger problems.

Check with people that move mobile homes.  They will know all about the permits.  It may be problematic finding one that has a trailer to put it on.

Thanks everyone. Pretty much the same conclusion I came to.  Was hoping someone might have a better answer.

I used to do this very thing for a living. Check with the dealer. They will have the # of guys with trucks and specialized trailers to move it.
