I dont have much patience with selling stuff. My wife on the other hand gets a kick out of Craigslist and eBay so she handles it. Since we just bought an enclosed trailer, she listed the old flat trailer on Craigslist for $1200.
I found the following exchange she sent me amusing. I cut and pasted from the email chain.
Buyer - "i will give ya 800.00 cash , let me know"
Mrs. Logdog - "Nope."
Buyer - "1000"
Mrs. Logdog - "Nope. Ad says 1200. You haven't even seen the trailer to see it's value, I don't appreciate tire kickers."
Buyer - "aint no tire kicker, never pay what they are askin, sure u are the same way when you are buyin, but i will just go buy a new one for 2500 , and it comes with a warrenty"
Mrs. Logdog - "You are more than welcome to pay that much for a new one, if you wish to pay my asking price, let me know. I priced it aggressively to sell, not to get lowball offers."
Buyer - "i understand you priced it right, i will do the 1200. we have the snow comin , can i pick it up friday evening , that way the snow is done, i will buy it call me so we can work the arrangements"
He came tonight and picked it up at asking price. Win!
Holy E36 M3! You can sell stuff on Craigslist!?
I only use it to buy other people's broken Fiats and Yugos.
Good on her!
I'm currently playing with one that I can't quite figure out. He's selling a car, I'm interested in buying the car. I touch base to make sure it's still for sale. He says it is. I ask about coming over to see it and hopefully buy it, he goes silent. We've repeated this several times over several weeks.

Tell her "well done!"from me.
Damn, I've got to try her style. I usually knuckle under, and sell for much less than I'm asking.

I HATE WHEN PEOPLE OFFER LESS AND THEY HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!
I just don't have the patience for the game. We were willing to come down a little if somebody looked at it and wanted to negotiate.

Does she have a sister?
She has an ex-step sister thats single.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall with her at a car dealership when she's the one buying. I'll bet she is just as good at giving a car salesman fits and wearing THEM down.

What is it with women?
Refrigerator died so we got a new one. Wife then decided we needed other new appliances (Bisque doesn't go with Stainless Steel). So we go order up new stove, microwave, and dishwasher. I make sure that hauling away the old stuff is part of the deal.
When we get home wife says "I would like to try to sell the old appliances". I say "OK, but nobody wants a 20 year old stove, 15 year old microwave or a 12 year old dishwasher". So she puts a free ad in the newspaper.
Last night at dinner she tells me someone is coming later to look at the stove. "Right, probably a big waste of time!"
8pm, an older gentleman and his wife appear at the door. He looks at the stove and says he'll take it. His wife is looking at the microwave and tells him it has a 30 second feature that hers doesn't.
End of story: He puts $300 on the counter and tells us he will be back to pick them up the 14th of next month when our new stuff gets delivered!

I do it all the time. People have no idea what their E36 M3 is worth (hint, not as much as you think). In this day and age, enough pictures should be provided for me to make a judgement call on its condition. From there, I can see if it is worth WASTING MY TIME to come see your stuff.
There are also times where I buy stuff sight unseen for asking price.
I was at the dump the other day dropping off some scrap water heaters. There was an appliance repair guy there removing parts from all the old washer, dryer, stove type appliances. He told me that since he is always fixing these things, he knows what the parts are worth. Told me there are weeks when he makes more money selling used parts on Ebay than he does actually fixing them.

When I was selling my boat I had several people do that.
I would reply to them with a counter offer that was higher than the listed price by the same amount they undercut the price (i.e. I listed it for $400, they offered $200, I countered with $600). Actually had one guy reply that my counter offer was too high and he wasn't interested anymore.
I negotiate bedtime the same way with my kids, I counter-offer their request by making it early by the same amount. Puts a quick end to negotiations.
I can just imagine what it was like to date her.
"Let's go back to my place"
Nope
"Ok, your place then."
Nope
...and so on, LOL!
