Currently pouring in Ormond Beach.

Yeah today has been previews of increasing ferocity, and we're already getting puddled up. We're not supposed to get the kind of rain volume we got with Ian, but the ground is very saturated, and there's still folks in town who have wet feet every time they go in the lowest room in their home. Another 4-5 inches of rain in a compressed time period is not going to help much.
We also still have whole neighborhoods that haven't had their debris piles cleared yet. So, yeah, this one might not pack the ferocity of Ian when it makes landfall, but it's going to be a heck of a mess.

Orlando area still has trouble with regular rains flooding roads, all that Ian rain hasn't drained yet. Trees should be well shook out by now but the drains will still clog on the smaller autumnal debris. I think Florida is trying to send a message about returning to it's swampy roots. Either that or Nicole comes bearing more commentary on building on a swamp for cheap.
Driving to Orlando this weekend, I noticed that there's still flooding besides I-4 near the St. Johns.
Today's wind knocked something dead from a tree. It's now by the curb. If it's not gone tomorrow, I'll chop it up so it's less of a sail.
The Saint John's is definitely still flooded. I drove across Lake Jesup a few days ago and the trees on the north side flood plain were still standing in water. Houses on the south shore of the lake were right on the edge of the water line.
Ugh. As you head into Orlando from Daytona, there's a ball field on the right that's often flooded. It looked very wet this weekend.

I think they finally gave up on ever playing ball there again. I dont think it has dried up in years.
You can certainly tell something is brewing. All day its been wacky. I was trying to finish cleaning up from Ian today. Working in mud and rain gets old quick. I still have mudholes in the yard from ian.
tomorrow my awesome neighbor is going to come over with his equipment and take the top out of this big pine that is threatening our house. It has had a slight lean for ever, but after Ian, its got way more lean than it did. The pic has a weird fisheye curve, but you can see its leaning. That side of the yard has been too muddy for me to work with since ian.

Has it been wet that long? (Shows that I haven't been going to Orlando as much as I used to.)
We've had bands of wind come and go all day here but rain has begun. I won't say that I'm thankful it's hitting Stuart- but I wasn't stoked about the idea of it hitting wpb and being just on the north side. Thankfully we're back from the ocean some these days. Slippery- I can't recall- but aren't you in soso? Stay safe and let us know if you neee a hand! I've got room for lots of cars out here- just not in the dry.

Thanks for the offer! I think we are good, worst case if it gets too windy I can squeeze 4 cars in the garage. I am in West Palm, off of 441/Lake Worth.
Tree gone!
sadly, my big papaya tree that had a pile of fruit on it got wacked and all the fruit shot off it it . Otherwise, no real damage. Nothing touched the house. Guys did a sweet job.
My idiot brain really saw the title of this thread and thought "Oh man, what did I do this time?"
But yeah, this storm following all the local damage from the last one really has us on edge, especially with my parents living beachside near some seawalls that got eaten by Ian.

Now you know how I felt when Ian went through... I spent a couple of weeks going, "what? oh... the storm..."
Stay safe all. I'll be down your way closer to Thanksgiving, visiting family in Sarasota. Last I heard, they were still cleaning up from Ian and piles of debris at the street hadn't been picked up yet.

Airline flight cancelations have begun.
My Michigan friends were supposed to fly out of Orlando today about right now.
Yeah, that didn't happen. Good thing they still have a solid support network here in Tampa

Sarasota? How long are you in town?
About a week or so. Leave on Tue for a couple of days in NC, then to FL. My mother is trip-planner. I just drive. Although I'm hoping to get to one of the mtn bike trail systems I've heard about near Tampa.
We got our first rain around 1500 today. If you guys remember Ian my employer did it with "business as usual". I'm proud that we stood up and told them it was a mistake. This morning they had a area wide meeting and they said it wouldn't be "business as usual" but that now we would have "storm mode"? My first thought was just naming it something different isn't making it different. To their credit they seem to have listened and at 1430 said all employee's must be home out of the field by 1700. Of course there were some issues but seems to be a step in the right direction.
