Maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but I was wondering what my Alfa Romeo GTV6 project should look like when it's done. After discovering the Alfetta interior the other night, I realize it'll never be on the block at Barrett-Jackson or anything, so I should look for something else to do with the thing after I've got it all working.
I really enjoyed looking at probesport's hot rod (he made a period correct "lakester" out of it) the other day, and it gave me a little inspiration.
Just like the hot-rodders do "vintage speed equipment" builds on their cars, I'm thinking of doing a "period correct" 1980s sportscar enthusiast's street GT.
At the moment, I'm thinking of those absurd Recaros with the logos:
And some old ATS or Panasport wheels.
Anybody got any links to anyone selling 1980s vintage motoring accessories?
Keep an eye on ebay, that's the most likely source for parts like that.

Those wacky Recaros are rad. It'd be neat to trim the whole interior in the same pattern.
ATS wheels would look awesome, but I'm not seeing the Panasports. Ronal Turbo's or A1's (pictured) would be cool, or maybe some kind of BBS mesh. It'll likely come down to what you can find in the GTV6 stud pattern, though.

Theres a guy where I work that just sold off his alfa cars and has a complete (IIRC) recaro interior from a Milano for sale. I think the fronts should bolt right in your GTV6 because thats why he bought the Milano for; for parts.
I am doing much the same interior idea for my 5.0 1st gen, most parts are eBay sourced, and yeah I am that old.....thanks for the reminder
BBS rims with gold centers.Pure 80's goodness. ;)
I love the idea of seats like that.
I would like a set myself.
Some inspiration for rims can be had on page 44 of this link

+1 for a classic 80's look but man, are they ugly!

I guess you had to be there, I loved them at the time and still love them on the right car.
Those Recaro's are awesome! Do it! Gold BBS's man, Pana's don't fit the look.
Oh the cool car stuff from the 80's. When we lived in Germany my dad took me to the Frankfurt Auto show in 85, good stuff. Gold BBS would look sweet and those seats are cool.
You are making me want to try and talk my wife into letting me keep mine and getting her back on the road.
Have you ever been hated by someone you never met before?

I was there - I'm almost 40
I LOVE those Recaros.
I vote for Ronal turbo's. I picked up a set at the junkyard once, but I had to sell them (for less than they were worth) to help pay rent one month.
The Recaros in my Rabbit GTI are almost as 80's as the ones in the first post.
Those seats were the E36 M3 back in the day.
I actually found a pair in the "Free for the taking" area at our local dump last summer. I looked them over pretty good, but they were beyond saving. They looked like they had been stored in someone's barn for ten years and the mice had gotten into them. Whoever left them there was smart enough to grab the mounting brackets off them first.

Yeah, I actually went to craigslist/ebay looking for a set before I posted over here. The ones I found that old were all trashed..I think I really want real aftermarket ones, rather than steal a set of OEM Recaros from somebody trying to restore a car that originally came with them.
The pic I posted was actually from someone's blog bragging he'd found a good one.
Lotza good stuff here, folks..thanks a lot! BTW, the last car I had on a set of gold-center BBS was a 76 BMW 2002 I owned about 20yrs ago. Strangely enough, it also had a pair of 80s Recaros (but not with the stripes), complete with the power air bladders! Sure wish I'd kept them..
Apologies for the post whoring (Baxter, do we need a filter word for "whore"? I suggest "Jag E-Type", since Sir Stirling Moss once called them the "dumb blonde of sporting cars"), but I can't let it go without telling ratghia that there are people on vwvortex who would perform some very strange activity for a set of those in that condition...
Yeah do the gold BBS and I wonder if you can still get a set of Pirelli P7 Cinturato (spelling?)
BBS RS 3 pieces are really cool rims and pretty damn expensive. They might look tacky but they are original 80s rims for cars when a 16in rim was large. I also found out modern VW/Audi use the same 112x5 pattern as my benz. Why bmtroubleyou had to use 120x5 is beyond me, there could have been a trifecta!
The only problem with those beige recaro seats is they belong in my car! I love those funky old looking seats, I know recaro made a hell of a set of seats for the benz. The gtv is also really cool!
BBS 3-piece also look very good on Miatas - they were made in the BMW 4x100 fitment which happens to be a straight fit on Miatas.
Double the value of your car by adding a set of rims

You mean like these?
haha back in my "when i was just getting into cars" days I looked at a bimmer 533is with those wheels on em... love the gold BBS look :)
