Since the Feedback forum is no more, this will now be the thread for reporting canoes. Please post a link to the threads and the names of the spammers in this thread. Big thanks to everyone who takes the time to report Spammy McSpammers. Your help makes it easier for us to blow them out of the water!
You may also use this thread to request moderator assistance, such as updating a thread title or moving a thread to another forum, or to report forum violations.
A explanation on canoes for newbies:
With older GRM forum formats mods had to comb through threads for spammers, which took way too much time to do because of the number of spammers we got. There was no "report comment" button what like other boards have. The community helped out by flagging potential spammers with a key word, which the mods would then search the boards for. "Canoe" became the keyword to identify them. "Flounder" is a similar keyword we used for flamewars/flamebait/trolling... basically, Internet arguments gone out of control. Threads on religion, politics, and your favorite brand of penetrant/motor oil/etc. are particularly susceptible to becoming flounders.
Of course, canoe and flounder have become in-jokes. So are the filters for naughty words. You can figure those out by filter pwning yourself.
So if you find a spammer or someone who isn't playing nice with the community, please report them here. Mods don't actively go searching for every instance of the word 'canoe' anymore, so while its OK to reply to a spammer with 'canoe,' we may still not see it. Tattle on them here, and we'll make the decision on whether to banhammer them or not.

And, in the same thread, a previously undiscovered paddler with a big scorecard:

I'm not sure on the second one. There's a lot of comments going back years, and yeah sure all of them don't necessarily read the best, but it reads more like ESL or a younger person than anything. I only found 1 link they posted out of at least a dozen posts. I don't want to accidentally ban a regular user.

Not a canoe, but whats the policy for people that just show up trying to sell parts?
Also, to be fair, the "ttt" post irritated me enough to make this post.

This is a new reader that has posted a whole bunch of seemingly-relevant but actually fairly meaningless posts. Not sure if canoe or not but I recommend checking out and watchlisting at the very least. Thanks.

Thank you, we're looking into it.
Requesting moderator assistance: I'd like to change the name of this thread:
https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/2010-odyssey-spontaneous-lane-change-diagnostic-he/163346/page1/
to something like "keeping a high-mileage 2010 Honda Odyssey alive"
and move it to builds and project cars
thanks!!!
Oh, poop!
Will some kindly soul please change the title on my latest thread in off-topic by spelling "coffee" correctly? I have failed in that regard and regret it immensely. Thanks so much!
Please move this to builds and projects forum for me and maybe change title to 1990 Nissan Skyline GTS-T? Pretty please?

Whoops. Just put a post in $2000 Challenge thread by mistake. Can you move the "Aren't we about due for a Binky episode?" post to the Grassroots forum...? Thanks.
Would it be possible to get a dark mode option for the forum?
EDIT: It is more my wife asking as when I can not sleep I will surf GRM and my screen is so bright it keeps her up.

Why can't I upvote some posts?
I don't believe it is due to negative votes, because I have had it happen on posts that have +X votes, not just zero.
Usually because you already upvoted it.
Yeah, I get that, but it happened several times in recent days where it was my first viewing of a given post.
Thanks for the reply. I'll see if I can recreate it or find out if there is a common condition.
That's odd. If a post has 1 down vote and you give it 1 up vote it will also just stay at 0. I know GRM is working on a "hide" functionality to the down votes, but I don't think any code has changed yet.
For the record, I have noticed the same thing. Most curious is the fact that all instances that I've noted have been on posts that have leaned a particular way or were contrary to the wishes of the Thought Police.
Yes, I understand the concept of "plausible deniability." Probably just a computer "glitch."
We're really not technically sophisticated enough for a grand conspiracy, nor do we have the staff time to go through and flag posts as leaning one direction or another to support that grands conspiracy system...
But we do have the post like counts configured to avoid hurting feelings. Regardless of a post's actual score, it will never show fewer than zero likes. A -3 that receives an upvote will be a -2, but both will show the user zero.
Occassionally I'll see popular topics (anything on the front page) getting multiple votes at once, so the total might be different than you expect once the page reloads.
If anybody is seeing bugs outside these conditions, please shoot me an email and I'll get the devs on it.

I noticed that apparent political correlation too, but rather than dive straight towards the conspiracy theory, I figured that political posts are a lot more likely to have a few negative votes for any positive votes to overcome.
Remember, net negative votes just appear as zero. It could be -20 for all we civilians can see.
No, this is for completely innocuous or generally helpful posts that I can't imagine anyone downvoting... but my upvotes just don't take effect.
I will try to keep better track and identify any potential connections. It may only be on my iPhone. That also has a wierdity where sometimes voting will take me to a page that says "Thank you, your vote has been recorded." and is difficult to browse back from. But that doesn't always happen at all on my phone, and sometimes when it happens it's easy to browse back to the thread.
THREAD MISSING
The GRM Racing League thread in Sim Central is gone. I JUST posted to it this morning (a YouTube video link) and have not seen it since. It should be at the top of Sim Central, but does not show at all now. I also cannot see it in my post history.
If the thread is somehow corrupted (hopefully not), if you could find a way to at least recover the first couple of posts, those are actually very useful information that I don't think is backed up anywhere.

Please O Please Fix this as there is years of information in that thread about Assetto Corsa.
If you do get this fixed is there a way we can back this up other than copying each page manually?
Sauce also pointed out to me that it looks like all the threads with "unofficial GRM" in the title look to be gone. Virtually all the sim racing series threads going back many years appear to be gone.

Interesting, I will also forward that to the devs
Even if the thread can not be resurrected if the first page or two could be pulled from a backup that would be very helpfull. It covers most of the basics.
In reply to dean1484 :
No, they're still working on it.
