Yeah, I saw that. Back in the dark ages when I used to watch the 500, I always rooted for him.
I can still hear Jim McKay and Chris Economaki saying his name.

I remember watching a race at MidOhio back in the 70's. He was driving a 934 or 935 and it was raining. I watched him go off track and hit the guard rail (Not hard) in the same turn two times but get the car going again each time.
Ironic. Annie and I are in Palm Springs right now. I saw Danny and spoke with him here when he participated in the very last Palm Springs Vintage Races put on by VARA way back in 1996, actually in Cathedral City near the airport. Nice guy. Very personable. RIP Danny.
Started off racing motorcycles, then drove Top Fuel and Funny Car dragsters - an unusual path to Indy cars.
